On Wednesday April 27th, during the Today morning show interview, the 32-year-old actress showed off a beautiful sparkling gem engagement ring. After the show host Matt Lauer remarked on it she confirmed she is on her way to become a bride: “I’m engaged! It just happened a week ago. I’m so glad you noticed. I haven’t really announced it… I was waiting for somebody to notice.” The future Mrs. Matt Bellamy wouldn’t reveal any detail regarding on how and where the proposal was made. But she couldn’t help sharing that “It was very sweet. It was very romantic.”
This came as the biggest news after the one that she is expecting a baby in the next months. She and her future husband, rocker Matt Bellamy were dating for over a year now. The actress’s spokesman announced that they were expecting a baby in January 2011, after much speculation in the press. People.com has another source telling them that the couple “couldn’t be more excited. Kate is really happy. She was always excited to have kids again at some point.” She already has a seven year old son, Ryder Russell, with former husband Chris Robinson.
Kate and Matt’s relationship was strong from the beginning. She introduced him to her family, mom Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell from the third month they were dating. It’s no surprise that, after one year they decide to have a baby together and make a commitment to each other. Matt is only a few months older than her and he is the front man in the British rock band Muse. He has been in the music business since 1994, as a musician and a song writer.
The engagement ring that Kate got has a 9 carats rock according to a source cited by US Weekly. The center stone appears to be an emerald-cut gem with baguettes on either side set in platinum. Some speculate it’s worth about 200,000 dollars. If so, then it has overcome the ring Hudson received in 2009 from boyfriend Alex Rodriguez, which was estimated to have cost around 40,000 dollars.
With all these amazing upcoming events in her life, Kate still has time for her acting career. She is preparing for the upcoming the romantic comedy “Something Borrowed” premiere, which will be on the big screen starting May 6th. She is playing the role of Darcy, a woman that marries her BFF prince charming.
