Justin Bieber Was First Winner At The Billboard Music Awards
Each year the Billboard Music Awards make for one of the most exciting and sought after events. For artists it’s a pretty emotional time, as their skills are confirmed in front of their peers. For fans, the Billboard Music Awards make for great entertainment. This year, Justin Bieber was first winner at Billboard Music Awards, but Taylor Swift also got her share of the spotlight.
Last year’s Billboard Music Awards got all the rage. About 7.9 million people watched the three hour event on their TVs. So this year’s event had to be even better than that. Fortunately for Co-Executive Producer Richard Beckman, the Billboard Music Awards 2012 were a hit.
“The challenge for us honestly was not about topping last year. We put on a great show, it got tremendous ratings and great buzz” said Richard Beckman.
The truth is that this year, the Billboard Music Awards had some pretty great performances, including tribute performances for Whitney Houston, Donna Summer and Adam MCA Yauch. Not to mention the list of artists that received the Billboard Music Awards. Justin Bieber might have been the event’s first winner, but Taylor Swift had a pretty good night too.
Justin Bieber took home the night’s first award. He got the award for best social artist. “I just want to say how much of a blessing it’s been…the past three or four years, growing up in front of everybody” said Justin Bieber as he received the award for the second year in a row.
Whitney Houston received a Billboard Millennium Award, and her daughter was there on her behalf. “I just really want to say thank you to everyone who supported us through it all. Not just when it was good, but when it was bad too” said Bobbi Kristina.
The 22-year-old Taylor Swift got the Billboard Woman of the Year award. Given her record selling performance, it couldn’t have been another way. She is the first woman in history to have three consecutive albums ranking at No. 1, with each album selling more than 5 million copies.
This year’s event was without a doubt a success. With Ty Burell and Julie Bowen hosting the show and amazing performances, next year’s Billboard Music Awards are going to have a hard time topping this edition.
