Actress-writer Joy Behar finally ties the knot, after 29 years of dating the same man. She and long-time love, Steve Janowitz said “I do” to each other on August 11, 2011. According to the Us Magazine, the comedian and her beau had several reasons for doing so.
Joy Behar is now 68 years old, but, unlike the majority of women, who believe marriage should be done at a younger age for a multitude of reasons, this comedian has decided to wait. And she waited almost three decades to make the step. When “The View” premiered on Tuesday, she decided to reveal why she has done this after all. Among her list of 10 reasons, there were some interesting ones:
• Because she felt “embarrassed asking about senior discounts for her ‘boyfriend’”;
• Because she was sick and tired of Barbara Walters constantly “bugging [me] to get married”;
• Because she hopes “to get on the cover of Brides Magazine AARP edition”
And after listing seven other similar reasons, she concluded with the real reason that made her take the relationship to another level. She said that the approval of gay marriage in New York made her think about why people want to get married in the first place. “It did have an influence on me”, the actress said. “I thought it was a good reason for me to get married. And so did Steve, so we did it”, she concluded.
Joy Behar made the first comment about possibly marrying Janowitz in March 2009, on “The View”, but three months later she withdrew the announcement and called off the engagement. The reason was, according to her, that she did not want people to talk about it so much.
The host of the American morning talk show “The View” has been married before, with Joe Behar. They got married in 1965 and stayed married until 1981. The two have a daughter together, Eve, who was born in 1970.
