The Associated Press reports that Johnny Depp has decided to set up a book imprint in order to help publish books written by less commercial authors. Among the first books that will be published is also “The Unraveled Tales of Bob Dylan”, a biography of Depp’s favorite songwriter.
After featuring in various movies inspired by American novels, such as, Thompson’s “Rum Diary” and “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”, Johnny Depp has decided to support literature by founding his own publishing imprint. The company will bear the same name as his production house, namely, Infinitum Nihil which is Latin for “Nothing is forever”. The imprint will be a part of the HarperCollins Publishers which released a statement on Monday saying that the actor plans to publish authentic and outspoken voices.
Since Johnny Depp and Douglas Brinkley are both passionate about Bob Dylan, they agreed that the best book to inaugurate the imprint is “The Unraveled Tales of Bob Dylan”. Some of the most important events in the enigmatic artist’s life, as well as his interviews will be included in the biographic collection. Brinkley declared that Bob’s music has inspired him and Depp since they were teenagers and they wanted to honor him through a special book.
Johnny Depp made a public announcement pledging on behalf of the Infinitum Nihil imprint that they will all work to deliver publications “worthy of peoples’ time [and] of peoples’ concern”. Being a rebel himself, Depp added that books which “might have never breached the parapet” will be the first to be taken into consideration and not the commercial ones. The “Rum Diary” star concluded the statement by thanking HarperCollins for their wish to support the new imprint.
Fans who were already hoping to get their hands on the book inspired by Bob Dylan will have to wait until 2015, the official release date of the novel. Meanwhile, they can purchase the recently discovered novel “House of Earth” written by folk musician Woody Guthrie which will be released in January.
