Johnny Depp is a proud, but also a concerned father. The famous Hollywood star decided to open up about the health scare of his daughter, Lily-Rose, dating back to 2007. Johnny talked about this difficult moment in his life during an appearance on the Graham Norton Show.
The popular actor revealed that the moment when his daughter’s health was in danger was actually the most difficult moment of his life. Depp revealed that his daughter hospital stint actually made him decide to dress up as Captain Jack Sparrow and visit patients to cheer them up. Jack Sparrow is the main character of the Pirates of the Caribbean, character interpreted by Johnny in the famous movie franchise.
“For me it’s a gift. They give me the gift,” the famous actor said. “When my daughter was ill in Great Ormond Street it was the darkest period of my life. I’d always done these visits but after that experience the visits became more and more important,” Depp went on to add. Johnny went on to reveal that his purpose is not only to cheer the kids, but also to help the parents at least smile a bit. “The kids are so courageous but to be able to bring a smile or a giggle to the parents means everything in the world to me,” the actor revealed.
At the time when Depp’s daughter was hospitalized, she was actually 7 years old. She contracted E. Coli infection, a virus which caused kidney failure in her case. Luckily, Lili-Rose was successfully treated for the illness and managed to overcome it. Depp was so grateful for the fact that his daughter turned out to be fine that the famous actor decided to donate $2 million to the Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Lili-Rose is the actor’s daughter with Vanesa Paradis, his former girlfriend. The former pair also has a son together, Jack. Currently, Johnny Depp is married to Amber Heard. The paid wedded in February, while insiders previously claimed that she is getting along really well with her husband’s two children.
