Famous actor Johnny Depp is a free man now. His divorce from former wife Amber Heard has been finalized. The divorce turned out to be an ugly battle with a series of accusations from both sides. However, it seems that the legal separation has been concluded, so both Johnny and Amber are free.
So, the divorce was finalized on Friday, when a judge signed off the legal separation during a court hearing in Los Angeles. TMZ reported that this ends the legal proceedings between the two. And of course, Amber was very happy. “This is a great day, all Amber wanted was to be divorced and now she is,” a lawyer for the actress said.
“In the words of Gerald Ford, ‘Our long national nightmare is over,'” the lawyer went on to add. Well, although the lawyer claimed that Amber wanted the divorce to end, it seems that the star was not hurrying at all to close the legal proceedings. In fact, Amber’s legal team has tried to renegotiate the divorce settlement that she and the actor previously reached. Amber was accused of trying to obtain more money from the actor.
However, the judge rejected the star’s claims, saying that enough was enough. Furthermore, it seems that the judge also decided to reject a request made by the actor, who wanted an order for Amber to pay his attorney fees. “Amber is not paying his legal fees either,” a source explained. Considering this latest decision, “the settlement, the original terms, will be enforced.”
The separation of Amber Heard and Johnny Depp was quite controversial because ever since the divorce papers were first filed by the actress, she accused Depp of physically abusing her. Amber filed for divorce in May 2016. The couple wedded in February 2015. The two settled the divorce in August 2016 for no less than $7 million.
Well, the divorce may have ended, but this does not mean that Johnny Depp’s ongoing legal issues are over. The actor has recently decided to sue his former business managers on allegations of mismanaging his earnings.
