Singer and model Joanne Borgella passed away at the age of only 32, after one year battle with cancer. Unfortunately, the singer struggled with this disease for months, but lost the battle.
The beautiful and talented singer became widely known when she entered the seventh season of American Idol. The star died on Saturday, October 18th. She suffered from endometrial cancer. The tragic news was revealed by Borgella family on the star’s Facebook page.
“At an early age, Joanne made a choice to serve and trust the Lord; and since her diagnosis over a year ago, Joanne made a choice to also be a fighter and share her journey with the world,” the Facebook post indicated.
“Her faith, courage and strength were unshaken throughout every obstacle she encountered. Although our family is suffering with this great loss, we find comfort in the closeness Joanne shared with the Lord. We know her spirit still shines and will continue to live on in heaven,” it added.
Joanne Borgella revealed that she was suffering from cancer in October, last year. The star actually made the announcement in a video that she shared on her Facebook page. The star claimed that the diagnosis she received was much unexpected. Joanne described her disease as very rare, as it had spread to her chest. She underwent treatment ever since she was given the diagnosis.
Joanne decided to keep her fans informed about her condition, so she kept on sharing updates on her health. Her last posts date to almost a month ago, when the model revealed that she was heading to the doctor for more treatment.
Joanne Borgella had been a model for more than 7 years. She actually started her career after winning Mo’Nique’s Fat Chance, back in 2005. She also starred in Curvy Girls. Joanne was represented by Wilhelmina Models and worked at many successful modeling projects. Moreover, the star had her own clothing line. When it comes to her singing career, Joanne had shown to be very talented. She started to love music at the age of 3 and she had her first performance at 13.
