Jim Carrey’s name has been associated to a scandal. The popular actor has actually been accused of giving Cathriona White STDs which made her finally commit suicide. Carrey has been sued in relation to this case by Mark Burton, Cathriona’s husband.
So, Mark seems to believe that Jim Carrey is the one to blame for Cathriona’s death. He initially filed a lawsuit accusing Carrey of being the one who helped his wife obtain drugs that eventually killed her. Now, he amended his lawsuit, revealing some text messages which indicated that Cathriona might have suffered from an STD in 2013.
The text messages were sent by Cathriona to Jim Carrey the same year. The allegations are part of some recently filed court documents that have been obtained by TMZ. The documents reveal that Cathriona told Carrey about her concerns in a message she sent to the actor in February 2013. She soon after got tested and found out that she suffered from Herpes Type I, Herpes Type II and Gonorrhea. She told Carrey about her diagnosis and the actor allegedly asked her not to tell anyone else.
Mark Burton claimed that he knew nothing about this, at least until 2015, when she eventually told him. She soon after committed suicide. Mark also said that his wife sent a letter to him, saying that because of her diagnosis she would be unable to find someone else after separating from Jim Carrey.
Jim Carrey has previously claimed that the lawsuit was just an “attempt to exploit me or the woman I loved.” “Cat’s troubles were born long before I met her and sadly her tragic end was beyond anyone’s control. I really hope that some day soon people will stop trying to profit from this and let her rest in peace,” the actor also explained.
A lawyer for the star addressed the allegations, saying that Mike Burton was an opportunist and claimed that he was desperate. “This is a desperate, bogus claim made by the ‘husband’ of the sham marriage,” the lawyer said. “My client will not pay money to end this opportunist’s transparent shakedown lawsuit, and this malicious case will be dismissed.”
