This Thanksgiving, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Kim Kardashian and other celebrities, gathered in Los Angeles to give a helping hand in feeding the homeless people. So on Wednesday, they joined the “Los Angeles Mission”, helping Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to serve the food.
Wednesday was a joyful day for the homeless people in Los Angeles. For one day, they were the celebrities and the actors, musicians and reality stars, famous all around the world, were just their…waiters.
This year, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa called Hollywood in for help. So Jennifer Love Hewitt, Kim Kardashian and Blair Underwood joined him in the “Los Angeles Mission”. They helped cook and serve the food. Among other celebrities who joined the ranks was “Avatar” star Zoe Saldana, who brought the cause online, as well, encouraging the people who follow her tweets, to donate. “@TheLAMission rt now. Est. to feed approx 4k people. We could feed more if u log on to feedLANow.org & donate! Happy Thanksgiving!” she wrote.
The Thanksgiving event had on its menu the traditional turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes and pie. The organizers revealed the huge amounts of food that they had: 3,000 pounds of turkey, 80 gallons of gravy and 700 pounds of mashed potatoes. They also had 600 pies.
The event was hosted by Hollywood veteran Kirk Douglas (the father of Michael Douglas) and his wife. Being used to the position – they hosted Los Angeles Mission on Thanksgiving for seven years now – Douglas was also used to the large quantities of food going around. But Kim Kardashian was impressed by the great number of people that they provided for. She says on Twitter that the Los Angeles Mission is not over yet. “There goal is to feed 120,000 people by the end of the yr”, she tweeted.
