Famous actor Hugh Jackman is the host of this year’s Tony Awards. The news that the star will host the 68th Tony Awards that are set to take place in June has just been confirmed.
Hugh Jackman is not in this role for the first time, as the actor has been the host of this ceremony for no less than 3 times. Consequently, this will be the fourth time when Jackman will be seen on the stage of the ceremony which aims to honor the best productions on Broadway.
As Hugh Jackman managed to do a great job in his previous appearances, there is no wonder that the actor was chosen once again for this part.
His hosting duties have always been appreciated, Jackman actually winning an Emmy for that in 2004. Hugh Jackman was a Tony Award winner, too, the actor winning his award for his amazing performance in The Boy from Oz, also in 2004.
Jackman is the winner of a Golden Globe, as well, award that the actor received last year for his role in Les Miserables.
A statement from reps from Tony Awards claimed that Hugh Jackman is a huge supporter of the Broadway community, so he surely deserves to host the ceremony for the fourth time, actually being the best person for this job.
The last performance that Jackman had on Broadway dates back to 2011. He is popular for his great performances in A Steady Rain, Beauty and the Beast and Sunset Boulevard, among others.
Hugh Jackman was cast in a new Broadway musical in which the actor was set to play the part of Harry Houdini, but the actor refused the role saying that his schedule didn’t allow him to take this project, too.
Well, the Tony Awards ceremony is set to take place on 8 June, while the nominations will be made public in 29 April.
The ceremony has become quite popular in the past few years. Moreover, last year the event registered a record audience, of more than 7.24 million viewers. The show is set to be broadcast on CBS.
