For a man that has always been the icon of the modern dandy surrounded by beautiful, goddess-like women, his son’s deed was surely bitter news for Hugh Hefner. Marston Hefner, the 21-year-old son of the Playboy founder, was charged with domestic violence after he assaulted his Playboy Playmate girlfriend last month.
On February 12, Marston Hefner and his girlfriend Claire Sinclair, Playmate of the year 2011, had a violent meltdown in their apartment in Pasadena. During the rampage, described as violent, Marston Hefner attacked Sinclair and “killed” a laptop.
As Claire Sinclair recently explained, it seems that wasn’t the first time Hugh Hefner’s 21-year-old son had abused her physically. She talked with reporters from TMZ after the incident stating she will not press charges against Marston Hefner “if he keeps his word to give a public apology for physically abusing me on several occasions and seeks psychiatric help for his anger issues”.
Now the court ruled that Marston Hefner will have to undergo 52 weeks in a domestic violence program. He will have to keep in touch with the court and present his progress down the line. The office of the Pasadena City Prosecutor also stated that he will have to keep distance from the victim and abide by his private therapy sessions. Basically, Marston got three years probation for his conduct.
Assistant Pasadena City Prosecutor Chris Blankenhorn told reporters with the Daily News: “At the end of the three years, he can withdraw his plea, similar to an expungement. But it’s contingent upon him obeying all laws and court conditions”.
Also Blankenhorn mentioned that the victim, Claire Sinclair had moved before any charges and the vandalism charge regarding the damage laptop has been “dismissed with a waiver he’ll pay restitution for replacing that”.
Hugh Hefner didn’t have much to say about the incident, apart from the following statement, also released to the Daily News website: “If they care about each other, they’ll patch it up”. But chances aren’t exactly high that will happen soon. Claire Sinclair and Marston Hefner have been dating since August 2010. With the abrupt ending of their relationship and a history of past physical abuse, their love story is likely to have ended that day, February 12.
