Hugh Hefner Dies at 91

Hugh Hefner is without a doubt a very well-known name. The founder of Playboy died at the age of 91. It has been revealed that Hefner died in his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Hefner passed away on September 27. Playboy confirmed the sad event in an official statement. “Hugh M. Hefner, the American icon who in 1953 introduced the world to Playboy magazine and built the company into one of the most recognizable American global brands in history, peacefully passed away today from natural causes at his home, The Playboy Mansion, surrounded by loved ones,” the statement said.

The news was also confirmed by Hugh Hefner’s son, Cooper, who is actually the Chief Creative Officer of Playboy. Cooper said that his father had an exceptional life. “My father lived an exceptional and impactful life as a media and cultural pioneer and a leading voice behind some of the most significant social and cultural movements of our time in advocating free speech, civil rights and sexual freedom,” Cooper said.

The same statement added that both his family and Playboy Enterprises will miss Hefner, who was actually part of the Playboy brand. “He defined a lifestyle and ethos that lie at the heart of the Playboy brand, one of the most recognizable and enduring in history. He will be greatly missed by many, including his wife Crystal, my sister Christie and my brothers David and Marston, and all of us at Playboy Enterprises.”

Hugh Hefner launched Playboy back in 1953. And he gained a worldwide success with it. Reportedly, Hefner made no less than $43 million from the famous magazine. And he also created the before mentioned Playboy lifestyle, including luxurious parties, being always surrounded by beautiful women.

At the time of his death, Hugh Hefner was married to Crystal Harries, who was 60 years younger than her husband. The two started dating in 2009. Reportedly, Crystal will not receive any inheritance from Hefner’s estate. Allegedly, she and her husband had a prenuptial agreement. It has been reported that Hefner left everything to his children, as well as to some charities.
