CNET News informs that HTC unveiled the new 5-inch Butterfly S phone during a press conference in Taipei, on Wednesday. The smartphone is an updated version of Butterfly which will be available for all Taiwanese customers starting this week.
HTC has kept its promise of delivering new smartphone models this year and the manufacturer launched a new Butterfly phone during a special event which was held on early Wednesday. The Butterfly S is a 5-inch update of the previously mentioned predecessor. According to analysts at CNET News, there are many features that could attract customers in the future.
HTC told the audience that Butterfly S has been improved with a 5-inch 1080p Super LCD 3 display made out of highly resistant glass. The new smartphone has a 440ppi resolution and slightly disappointing camera options. While the front facing camera has 2.1 megapixels the one on the back is a 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera, which may not satisfy customers who wish to take highly qualitative pictures with their smartphones. Yet, the HTC Zoe software which is used to edit videos comes to complement any of the aspects that the camera might be missing. The program organizes snapshots in 30-second videos for better effects.
Luckily, the smartphone has been foreseen with good quality speakers, such as, the Beats Audio from HTC which have received good reviews from customers in the past. The inner components make up for the lacking camera features; a quad-core 1.9GHZ Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and quad-band HSPA/WCDMA radio have been included in the new Butterfly model. The memory may be expanded with the help of a microSD card slot and the battery life is rather long due to the 3,200mAh.
The smartphone is now available in Taiwan for $767 and customers may choose the grey, the red or the white version. Prices and availability dates have not been yet confirmed for the rest of the regions.
