This year Barcelona was filled with great surprises and releases. This time we are talking about HP Pro Slate 8. A tablet that is not meant for the office, due to its wonderful design. In other words, Pro Slate 8 is not a device that people expect to find in a workplace environment, but rather at home. Not to be confused with the previous HP Slate 8 Pro, HP Pro Slate 8 weighs only 350g and feels really light in the hand, even if it is covered in metal. The tablet has an 8-inch display and a super-high-resolution, boasting 2,048×1,536 pixels. Probably, experts know that the same resolution is found on Apple’s iPads.
HP Pro Slate 8 has under the hood a 2.3Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor, powered by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. It runs Android 4.4 and the battery life is meant for around 13 hours of usage. It sounds pretty good, but it’s an enterprise table after all, so this means that HP has added a docking port that allows users to use the device with a keyboard and mouse. Owners will also be able to super-charge the tablet quickly, as Hewlett-Packard Company declared that it takes only one and a half hours to get a full charge.
One of the main features on this tablet is the ultrasound stylus, also named the Due Pent. This feature allows users to use it as a pen. Around the tablet, there are positioned five microphones that work to triangulate the position of the pen, while the fifth microphone is used to detect vertical movement. With this tablet, owners can write on a nearby paper, while the words are mirrored on the tablet, making it easy to digitize stuff. It is a great feature that will make office work easier.
Besides the 8-inch tablet, Hewlett-Packard Company also released a 12-inch version that came equipped with the same features, but it obviously is larger. Both devices are available now and a start price from 449 dollars, while the 12-inch model comes at 569 dollars.
