Us Weekly reported on Friday that Hilary Duff gave birth to her first child, a baby boy, on March 20. The news was communicated by the actress-singer herself via her Twitter account. Hilary wrote that she and her husband, Mike Comrie, are glad to announce the arrival of their first child, Luca Cruz.
Although she kept aloof from the media in the past months, Hilary Duff has, nevertheless, been one of the most watched pregnant celebrities in Hollywood. The press has constantly made speculations about the sex and the birth date of the child. Hilary and her husband, Mike, have been so secretive that the press was not able to find out the actress gave birth to her child until she published the news on her Twitter account on Friday.
According to Duff, the couple welcomed the baby boy on Tuesday. Luca Cruz is 6 ounce tall and weighs 7 pounds based on the information provided by the actress. Hilary concluded her statement by saying that they feel they are the luckiest parents in the world.
The 24-year-old actress tied the knot with professional ice hockey player Mike Comrie in August 2010. One year later, she announced her pregnancy saying that she could hardly wait to welcome the baby in their lives. Duff declared in December 2011 that she was constantly advised by her relatives to rest and to get enough sleep, but the actress was nervous about her first meeting with the baby. “I just want the baby here! I want to play and I’m ready to see what he looks like,” the “Lizzie McGuire” star added.
Now that her pregnancy period is over, Hilary is not rushing to get back in the entertainment industry. The new mom told reporters at Us Weekly that she plans to rest for the following months and dedicate all her time to activities that will make her a “really good mom”. Even so, Duff promises not to neglect her fans and to come back on stage as soon as possible. Her future career plans include a music album and a tour.
