HBO Now launched on Apple TV

Good news before Sunday’s season premiere of “Game of Thrones”. Cablevision and Apple TV customers are now able to follow the incredible adventures of the “Game of Thrones” crew. All these without the aid of a cable subscription. It seems that HBO’s online streaming service, known as HBO Now, is now live on Apple TV and other Apple iOS devices.

However, the online streaming service is also available on Cablevision through the cable provider’s called Optimum Online Internet service. To be mentioned that the price to subscribe is around 14.99 dollars a month, but for customers that will sign up this month a free 30-day trial is available. This offer came after the iPhone maker closed a deal to launch HBO Now exclusively through iPad tablet, iPhone and of course, through its Apple TV. If Apple TV customers can switch between online options and mobile devices, pay-tv like Cablevision are experimenting with Internet-based television services.

This was a strategic move for Apple and a great hit for its rivals, including Microsoft’s Xbox, Google’s Chromecast and Roku. These services can’t offer HBO Now for another three months. Even if this amount of time is not that long, unfortunately it encompasses the entire new season of the most watched show of the moment, “Game of Thrones.” This is HBO’s highly watched fantasy series, and it will start this Sunday. However, Cablevision is considered the first pay-tv provider that offers to its customers the premium network’s new streaming service. This will be a great opportunity for people who forsake satellite TV or cable service for online television viewing.

To be mentioned that this pay-tv service has approximately 3 million customers in New York, plus 2.8 million Optimum Online broadband customers. On the other side, Comcast, is known as being the biggest company in the United States, has approximately 22,3 million video service customers and 21 million broadband customers. After unveiling the deal to launch HBO Now, Apple decided to cut the price of its Apple TV to 69 dollars from 99 dollars in March. Due to its influence and unparalleled market, Apple TV is probably the most-purchased device of its kind worldwide.
