J.K. Rowling, the author of the beloved ‘Harry Potter’ series announced her intentions to plot a new novel targeting adult readers, says the Associated Press. The British writer will collaborate with UK Publisher Little, Brown for the release of the new book. However, the subject of the novel and the worldwide publication date haven’t been revealed yet.
Readers, who have grown fond of Rowling’s writing style, will be delighted to hear that the author is working on a new project which is dedicated to the grown-up audience. Rowling was rather reserved during the press conference organized by Little, Brown on Thursday. The writer didn’t reveal too much information about her new book. She only stated that the storyline will be completely different than what she did before.
After publishing seven ‘Harry Potter’ books the British author realized it was time to move on to a different type of story. Despite this, she declared that she will most likely use all the knowledge she acquired from her previous novels in the creation of the new project. Thanks to the ‘Harry Potter’ series, Rowling has learned to explore new territories and this writing technique will be continued in her future works. Neither the writer, nor the executives at Little, Brown disclosed the financial terms of their agreement.
Analysts are convinced that the new book will be a success due to the writer’s past achievements. The last book in the ‘Harry Potter’ series, that is, “Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows” sold 11 million copies in the first 24 hours after the publication. Booksellers were also delighted to hear that Rowling is channeling her attention towards other segments. In their opinion, the adult novel will be requested by smaller readers, as well, just like the ‘Harry Potter’ books were quickly embraced by adults.
J.K. Rowling previously worked with Scholastic Corp. in the U.S. and Bloomsbury PLC in the U.K, but now she decided to sign a deal with Little, Brown because “it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher”. The spokespersons of the two publishing houses stated that they were not disturbed by Rowling’s decision to work with Little, Brown and they continue to have strong relationships. The new novel will include audio and e-book versions due to the expansion of the digital market.
