Guy Ritchie sees his marriage to pop start Madonna to have felt most of the time like a true soap opera. Their union ended after eight years in 2008 under amicable terms.
However, Ritchie told the December issue of Details that he couldn’t imagine another way for this life to have unfolded. Regardless of the way things ended, he feels he enjoyed his first marriage and definitely doesn’t regret it as the experience was most than anything a positive one. “I love the kids that came out of it, and I could see no other route to take”, he said.
Currently, though, Ritchie seems to have moved on completely from the years of living within a soap opera. He had been a part of it for quite some years of his life and expects to be more eloquent when talking about it 10 years from now.
The director of “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” has one biological child with Madonna, his 11 years old boy Rocco. He thinks his life trajectory fueled his philosophical side as he set out with a handful of dreams that turned into hollow victories.
Somehow that experience got accelerated in his case. “I’m glad I made money, in other words. And I’m glad I got married”, he told Details.
In September 2011, the British director became a father for the second time. He had a baby boy with his girlfriend Jacqui Ainsley. Yet, Ritchie is not too fond of giving or receiving fathering advice. He was happy to figure out how parenting worked on his own and not be pressured by tips and advice. The filmmaker considers kids should be allowed to live their childhood in peace, away from pressure and interminable homework. “I think if kids want to arse around, then they should”, he also declared for Details.
