It looks like there’s some sort of virus affecting celebrities only. Justin Bieber throws up on stage, twice, while George Michael cancels tour and seeks anxiety treatment.
Saturday, George Michael announced his fans he has to cancel his tour in Australia due to health problems. According to a statement on his website, the artist has been dealing with “major anxiety” since last year, but the problem got so hard to handle George Michael had to cancel the tour in Australia. The artist is now seeking anxiety treatment.
Last year, while in Vienna, George Michael was hospitalized for pneumonia. His health condition was in such a poor state that doctors had concerns the pneumonia was actually life-threatening. George Michael then had to cancel his remaining tour in Europe to seek treatment. Apparently the pneumonia left him with side-effects, as he announced over the weekend he won’t be able to perform several shows in Australia as he was suffering from “major anxiety”.
“By way of explanation all I can say at this time is that since last year’s illness I have tried in vain to work my way through the trauma that the doctors who saved my life warned me I would experience” George Michael confessed on his website this Saturday. “They recommend me complete rest and the type of post traumatic counseling which is available in cases like mine” the artist added.
The artist added he wrongly thought he’d be able to stay away from that therapy through doing music and shows. “I’m afraid I believed (wrongly) that making music and getting out there to perform for the audiences that bring me such joy would be therapy enough in itself” George Michael said.
Despite knowing he is long overdue his treatment for major anxiety, George Michael confessed he believes his last shows more some of his best performances ever. “I was wrong to think I could work my way through the major anxiety that has plagued me since I left Austria last December” he added.
“All that’s left for me to do is apologise to my wonderful Australian fan base and to promise faithfully that as soon as I completed these shows here in the UK I will receive the treatment which is so long overdue” George Michael excused himself for canceling the Australian tour.
