It seems that famous actor George Clooney and his beautiful wife Amal Alamuddin have a new focus. The two have recently met up with Angela Merkel, the Chancellor of Germany, to talk about the refugee crisis.
Apparently, what George and Amal wanted to do was to offer their support to Angela’s policy regarding people fleeing from their countries dominated by war.
Amal is a human-right lawyer, so there is no wonder that the couple has interest in this subject. The pair was in Berlin to promote Clooney’s latest movie, Hail Caesar, which actually opened at the Berlin International Film Festival.
Well, it seems that the Chancellor of Germany liked the discussion with the famous pair, as Angela Merkel stated after the meeting. “We talked about how NGOs and governments can work together when it comes to the reasons behind people fleeing their home countries, and how they can encourage people to get involved,” the German Chancellor said. “It was a very good discussion.”
The meeting was also attended by David Miliband, who is the head of the International Rescue Committee. Miliband used to serve as the British foreign secretary. Well, not much of the discussion was revealed to the public, but Clooney confessed that he and Amal wanted to know what they could do to help. The famous actor went to praise Angela Merkel for her effort to take “a great responsibility” despite the pressure.
However, when being asked what he had actually done to help by a reporter, George Clooney got extremely upset. “I spend a lot of time working on these things, so it’s odd to have someone stand up and say, ‘So, what do you do?'” he said. “I’d like to know what you are doing to help the situation,” Clooney told the reporter.
Well, although Clooney said that he worked on these issues a lot of time, it remains immediately unclear exactly what he focused on. Furthermore, this is the first time when Clooney is linked to this subject, but maybe the actor and his famous wife will reveal their work on this in the near future.
