The 41-year-old star was very excited months ago when he announced he will become a father for the fourth time. Unfortunately, Gary Barlow’s agent announced the Take That star is now preparing for daughter’s funeral. Gary Barlow’s baby, Poppy, was delivered stillborn this weekend.
It’s a hard blow to lose a child, whether or not we’re talking about celebrities. A statement published by Gary Barlow’s agent reads “Poppy Barlow was delivered stillborn on August 4 in London”. Now the Take That star and his 42-year-old wife are preparing for their daughter’s funeral.
It goes without saying this is a heartbreaking story. In a statement, Gary Barlow said the family is “devastated” about losing their baby. “Our focus now is giving her a beautiful funeral and loving our three children with all our hearts. We’d ask at this painful time that our privacy be respected” added Gary Barlow.
Fans, friends and family reacted to Gary Barlow’s devastating news. Tulisa Contostavlos, X Factor judge, tweeted: “My thoughts & prayers are with @GBarlowOfficial and wife dawn tonight. Heartbreaking x”.
A source told the mail the couple is “just heartbroken”. “This is completely senseless. They just want time to grieve now and be with their children” the source added.
Boy band JLS also issued a tweet: “We send our condolences to @GBarlowOfficial and his family during this tough time…our thoughts and prayers with you…Marv and the boys x”.
Lord Lloyd Webber said: “Dearest Dawn & Gary, Madeleine & I are devastated about news of Poppy. Our thoughts & prayers are with you and your family”.
For the moment being, nobody knows if Gary Barlow will be able to perform at the Olympics closing ceremony this Sunday. A spokesman said it was just “too early”.
In April, Gary Barlow announced on Twitter he was going to become a father for the fourth time. “There’s gonna be another girl in the Barlow household” he then tweeted with enthusiasm. In June he received the celebrity dad of the year crown soon after reports surfaced that he avoided traveling too far for the filming of X Factor. A source said he was “adamant that he didn’t want to spend too much time apart from Dawn and the new baby”.
