Gabrielle Union has decided to open up about her struggle with infertility. The star actually said that she suffered from eight or nine miscarriages. Gabrielle confessed this all happened during her marriage to NBA player Dwayne Wade.
The famous actress and her husband have tried for quite some time to have a child. The two married back in August 2014. Gabrielle talked about her infertility issues in her new book, We’re Going to Need More Wine. “I have had eight or nine miscarriages,” Gabrielle revealed in her book. “For three years, my body has been a prisoner of trying to get pregnant – I’ve either been about to go into an IVF cycle, in the middle of an IVF cycle, or coming out of an IVF cycle,” she added.
“I have endured eight failed IVF cycles, with my body constantly bloated from these hormones,” the star also said. However, Gabrielle claimed that this struggle has not negatively impacted her marriage. In fact, according to the famous actress she and her husband “remain bursting with love and ready to do anything to meet the child we’ve both dreamed of.”
If Gabrielle will manage to get pregnant, this will actually be her first child. She was previously married, but had no children from that relationship. On the other hand, Wade has two sons from his first marriage. He also has a son from a previous relationship.
In her book, Gabrielle also revealed that most of her life she believed that she didn’t want to have children. However, she then became a stepmother and started spending time with Wade’s children. This is how Gabrielle realized that she wanted to become a mom.
Gabrielle also opened up about her struggle to deal with all the questions and the comments she was getting. “For so many women, and not just women in the spotlight, people feel very entitled to know, ‘Do you want kids? A lot of people, especially people that have fertility issues, just say ‘no’ because that’s a lot easier than being honest about whatever is actually going on. People mean so well, but they have no idea the harm or frustration it can cause,” she explained.
