Looks like my Christmas wish has finally come true as the dominions of established operating systems like Android and iOS are threatened by the arrival of new free software. The first Sailfish-based smartphone has been announced on Monday by Jolla, a company founded by a former Nokia employee, PC World informs.

Jolla was born when the former Nokia employees, Sami Pienimäki, Jussi Hurmola, Marc Dillon, Stefano Mosconi decided to part ways with the famous Finnish mobile maker to continue the development work that they have started with MeeGo OS. The company is but a small fish in the infinite ocean of the smartphone market, but their new device could help raise market shares. The phone that the company revealed at the beginning of the week is the first to feature the Sailfish software that they have developed until now.

The smartphone has promising technical specifications, being powered by a dual core processor and featuring a 4.5-inch screen. The model comes with an 8-megapixel camera and 16GB storage capacity which can be expanded with the help of an SD card. Jolla developers are not new to the 4G technology, either; therefore, they have made their first Sailfish-based phone compatible with the new wireless communication technology.

The technical specs are not the only ones that matter, according to the Finnish startup producer; it is the Sailfish operating system, which has been provided with sufficient features to convince customers to take distance from competing platforms and opt for theirs instead. Jolla developers have intuited that smartphone users are looking for operating systems that can be enriched with as many apps as possible, so they have made Sailfish compatible with all Android apps, in addition to the ones that were purposefully designed for this operating system.

Jolla is not the only startup company that it’s trying to make it big on the smartphone market. Firefox OS, Ubuntu and Tizen have also revealed their intentions to launch their first smartphones this year. Despite their good intentions, the prices that these companies practice represent major setbacks; Jolla plans to sell the Sailfish-based smartphone for €399 (US$510), EU taxes included.

You Tube plans to entertain its users with many more funny videos by celebrating the Comedy Week between May 19 and 25. Many performances from well-known British and American standup comedians will be featured on the video sharing website this week, so here is what you should expect, according to the Guardian.

You Tube has decided to celebrate comedy by opening a special channel featuring funny performances during 19 – 25 of May. The event was announced by actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who declared himself a fan of comedy, even though his muscly looks would never let us suspect it. The “Terminator” star told You Tube viewers they should expect to see many videos from comedy actors like Vince Vaughn, Andy Samberg, Sarah Silverman and many others. The Comedy Week clip is full of many references to social networking trends, such as, planking or Harlem Shake. Hints to “Terminator” lines are not absent from the clip, either, as Arnold mocks his own character.

You Tube will post spoofs and funny rap battles videos the entire week, but viewers will be able to watch performance of great Hollywood actors. Owen Wilson has confirmed his participation at the Comedy Week, while Ricky Gervais has already posted the first guitar lesson of one of his alter egos, David Brent, which will be followed by other similar videos. David Mitchell and Jamie Oliver – the famous British cook – will also take part in You Tube’s celebration of the Comedy Week.

Personally, I find Ricky Gervais’ You Tube performance very weak compared to his previous standup comedy shows. The other videos posted haven’t managed to bring a smile on my face, either, but I’m assuming comedians are just getting started. The channel is definitely worth keeping an eye on, even for staying in touch with the latest comedy news.

Based on a recent report published by CNET News, Microsoft has disclosed Surface Pro’s launching date for Switzerland and Italy. The latter are the two European companies that will receive the tablet after having been available only in America.

Switzerland and Italy have joined the small group of countries that will commercialize Microsoft’s tablet by the end of this month, according to the company’s declaration. UK, Germany, the Netherlands and Portugal have been the first to confirm the release date and the prices that local stores will practice.

The tablet will be launched on the same day in Switzerland and Italy, namely, on May 30th. Euronics, Expert, Media World, Saturn and Unieuro are the retailers that will commercialize the tablet in Italy, but interested buyers will be able to purchase it from the company’s online store microsoftstore.com, as well. In Switzerland, the local branches of Fust, Interdiscount and Media Markt will be responsible with the commercialization of the tablet, but the device will also be available on the company’s online store.

Prices will differ from one company to another, according to the announcement that the company has made on Monday. While the 64GB Pro will cost €899 and the 128GB version of the tablet will be €999 at retailers in Italy, Swiss buyers will only have to pay CHF 959 (€770) for the 64GB Surface and CHF 1,059 (€850) for the 128GB. The Touch and Type covers will be sold separately at Swiss retailers in exchange of CHF 130 (€104) and CHF 140 (€112), respectively.

Even though Microsoft has disclosed that prices will be slightly different from one country to another, the software company reassured customers that local prices and release dates will remain fairly consistent. Except for UK, where the tablets will be available on May 23rd, the majority of the European countries will launch Surface Pro on 30 or 31 May.

Yahoo is getting closer to signing one of its most important deals in the past years. The Internet company could soon acquire Tumblr, an online company that was set up 6 years ago and which managed to raise more than 100 million users, but very little revenue, CNET News reports.

A close source to the matter revealed on Monday that Yahoo has agreed to pay $1.1 billion in order to purchase Tumblr, a company that is not very productive in point of profit, but has, nevertheless, managed to gather 100 million users since it was first founded six years ago. Tumblr has captured the attention of the Internet giant, Yahoo, due to the large community users that access it every day. The veteran has, therefore, decided to purchase the weblog in order to expand their services and to keep up with the evolving online habits of Internet users.

The decision to buy Tumblr has been approved by Yahoo’s board at the end of the week, so the companies could be announcing the deal in the following week. Tumblr, the other company involved in the deal, has also agreed to become part of Yahoo, even though the news has not yet been confirmed by the spokespersons of the two companies.

Although Yahoo has been struggling lately to keep afloat, the company has nevertheless managed to become a member of the group of companies who have made proficuous deals. Google and Facebook represent the best examples of companies that have spent more than $1 billion apiece to buy startup companies. Yahoo’s Chief Executive, Marissa Mayer told the press that the deal could cover many of the holes that they have in comparison with other Internet companies. By welcoming the weblog Tumblr aboard, Yahoo could finally be able to offer its users the social networking and communications services they have been lacking. The move could also expand the users’ profile to younger generations and, it could, hopefully, guarantee an access to the smartphone market, Mayer concluded.

Highly caloric foods are not always bad as long as you master the secret of their use. It is this hypothesis that authors Joel Marion and Brett Hall have set forth to discuss and present in their recently launched guide entitled 17 Cheat Foods That Burn Fat. We have taken a look at the manual, too, because, let's face it, who wouldn't want to lose weight without following any alimentary diet?

Download 17 Cheat Foods That Burn Fat Guide

The comprehensive guide of the 17 Cheat Foods That Burn Fat has got all our attention due to the interesting and very useful pieces of information it contained. Since we are not dieticians or fat loss gurus, we had to make sure that Joel Marion and Brett Hall's book is based on genuine information. Based on the research we have performed, the two authors have indeed grounded their alimentary diet on medical material.

17 Cheat Foods That Burn Fat Video Guide

According to them, leptin – a hormone existing in our bodies that is responsible with the regulation of the energy intake and expenditure – influences our body's response to caloric intake. Unfortunately, the unhealthy food habits that people have practiced for centuries have lowered the leptin levels in our body and have slowed the leptin response to energy intake. As a consequence, our body does not make it in time to burn fat before it is stored in our system.

Marion and Hall have, nevertheless, found a method to improve the leptin levels and response due to the research they have performed during their careers. The great part about this method is that it is entirely based on natural products and ingredients, so those who decide to follow this diet won't have to resort to artificial medicines. All you have to do is introduce a “cheat day” in your regime each week to determine your body to increase leptin levels. In addition, it is recommended that you eat one-ingredient products (products that have not been processed with other ingredients or spices, such as, fruits and vegetables) to get faster leptin response.

Brett Hall's contribution to the 17 Cheat Foods That Burn Fat guide consists in a special bonus that buyers receive when placing the order. He has designed a special, 100% natural supplement that stimulates leptin levels and leptin response, so people could obtain better results in a shorter period of time.

All in all, the 17 Cheat Foods That Burn Fat guide is an amazingly informative book, so we strongly recommend it for people who want to learn more about the human body and the influence of hormones on our well-being. The diet may seem rather difficult to understand; therefore, it should be followed under the close guidance of a personal nutritionist.

Shaun Hadsall is a fat loss guru who has conquered all his clients’ heart through his extremely permissive diet. He is the creator of the Macro-Patterning plan which gives users the possibility to eat as much as they want and still lose weight. The regime is based on a carefully planned sequence of high and low carb days that train the body to easily do away with substances that are normally considered fattening and noxious.

Hadsall has discovered that our body needs to be trained in order to burn carbs faster. He rejects the previous diet plans according to which, people have to give up carbs completely in order to lose weight and get back in shape.

Download 14 Day Rapid Fat Loss Plan

The reason why Shaun thinks nutritionists were wrong to sustain this is because the longer you deprive your body of carbs, the more difficult it would be to burn them. The digestive system is no longer used to carbs, so the burning process takes longer, thus leading to the formation of fat cells.

The correct way to easily lose weight and eat as much as you like is, in Hadsall’s opinion, the Macro-Patterning Diet. This regime presupposes that the person alternates between high and low fat days while practicing fitness exercises to maintain a good muscle mass. The author of this diet plan guarantees that you will get to the desired body shape in just 14 days.

14 Day Rapid Fat Loss Plan -25% Dicount Via Daily Gossip

Hadsall has created numerous diets all based on his Macro-Patterning Plan. However, the 14-Day Rapid Fat Loss Plan is the only one that guarantees the best results in the shortest amount of time. This regime presupposes the alternation between 3 days: the Carb Depletion Day, the Carb Up Day and the Free Day.

As the name says it, during the first day, people will give up carbs completely and turn instead to the consumption of products that are rich in proteins. The following day, on the other hand, you can feast yourself with your favorite dishes, even those containing lots of carbs. There is absolutely no food restriction in the second day; it is actually recommended to eat as many fattening products as possible. The Free Day is the day you get to eat normally without making any excesses.

The three-day scheme has to be carefully planned by a fat loss expert like Hadsall; otherwise, you may end up weighing more at the end of the diet. The 14-Day Rapid Fat Loss Plan will revolutionize your life and your system of beliefs, which is why it is recommended by so many doctors and nutritionists.

As a Master Hypnotist and Yoga Instructor, Jim Katsoulis has discovered the secret to a perfect body. The author of the Program Yourself Thin fitness package has provided us with some of the tips that people can use in order to attain the desired figure and to put an end to their food cravings.

Food cravings are the worst enemy for people trying to keep a diet. This works hand in hand with the weak human brain which tries to convince us that eating certain products can influence our disposition.

Download Program YourSelf Thin Book

Jim Katsoulis has studied this aspect during the 3,000 private weight loss sessions he has offered to his clients and the professional training hours he observed in order to become a good lifestyle coach. He was, thus, able to identify the factors that prevent people from staying thin and how to eliminate them from our daily existence.

Program Yourself Thin Testimonials & Videos

The word that is most often used to talk about diets is ‘will’ as dieticians and nutritionists try to encourage their patients to follow the regime for as long as possible. The one thing they neglect, in Jim Katsoulis’ opinion, is the fact that ‘will’ originates in our brain and it is from the brain that we must start programming ourselves to becoming thinner.

Jim has adapted Freud’s distinction of the Id, Ego and Super-Ego to his theory and has thus noticed that people’s food choices are influenced by the conscious and the unconscious parts of their brains. The conscious part of the brain is the rational component trying to prevent us from eating unhealthy products, whereas the unconscious part contains all the automatic habits we acquire during our life. It is the unconscious part that pushes people into eating sweets whenever they feel depressed, angry, etc.; therefore, people must re-educate their unconscious brains so they would be directed towards healthy habits instead of unhealthy ones whenever they feel under the weather.

This is where Jim’s hypnosis and yoga skills come in. The videos he has included in the Program Yourself Thin package teach people how to completely change their beliefs and behaviors about diets. There are six components that have been included in the package, so buyers would easily learn how to reprogram themselves and maintain this healthy lifestyle for a long period of time, if possible, for the rest of their lives. Thus, if you order the $97 Program Yourself Thin package you will obtain “A Quick Start Guide”, “Eight Audio Training Modules”, “6 Specialized Self Hypnotic Programming Sessions”, “Training Videos”, “Expert Interviews” and “Class Summaries”.

Forrester has come to confirm previous reports written by analysts and market researchers in relation to Microsoft’s Windows 8. Neither analysts, nor customers were pleased by the software launched by the American company, even though it was meant to be one of the biggest upgrades since 1995. Moreover, the market researchers think enterprises will continue to show very little interest in Windows 8 as the majority of them still prefer its predecessor, Windows 7.

The recent market analysis that the company has performed shows that less than 50 percent workplaces will have adopted Windows 8 by the time the new upgrade is released. Forrester analyst David Johnson wrote in his article that Microsoft had greater expectations for their new software. Unfortunately, companies have only recently made the transition from Windows XP to Windows 7 and they are not willing to invest time and resources in another change that could slow down the company’s production.

Only 26 percent respondents that took part in the survey performed by Forrester declared that they are currently using a device running on Windows 8. 60 percent are using Windows 7, whereas Windows XP has a 38 percent share. Forrester did not put the blame entirely on Microsoft’s software as there are many factors that have contributed to the program’s lack of popularity, in his opinion. However, the majority of the companies think Windows 8 does not bring a major improvement over Windows 7, so the transition is not necessary at the moment. In addition, IT specialists are afraid that the new software will not be compatible with the more traditional technology and that the costs will be too big for what the program has to offer.

An update is programmed by the end of June, according to Microsoft’s recent declaration. The company claims the changes will be able to solve all the glitches that customers have complained about, but Forrester is still not convinced that this move will be enough to determine customers to adopt Windows 8.

The company revealed a series of applications for their wearable device during a statement on Thursday, making analysts and customers more curious about the new device.

The software company did not disclose many details about its new Glass project during the I/O Developer’s Conference for reasons that remain unknown to us. The big surprise came on Thursday when the company revealed several applications that will be used for the highly technological shades. Apparently, social networks and companies are jostling each other to create applications for Google’s Glass.

Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Elle magazine are just a few of the companies that have prepared apps for the yet out-of-reach glasses. Thanks to these new programs, Glass wearers will be able to quickly share their photos with their friends on the social network. The company did not reveal whether users will have the possibility to control the social networks with the help of their face expressions and gestures.

One thing is for sure: the newly added apps increase the number of features that Google Glass wearers may use. According to the company’s declaration, Facebook users can only share the photos they take with their glasses, but many more options will be added in the future. Twitter, on the other hand, has been much more generous with its subscribers; the Twitterverse also allows customers to receive notifications and send messages, in addition to the option of sharing posts and pictures. Twitter engineering manager Shiv Ramamurthi wrote in a recent blog post that Google Glass owners will be able to perform more or less the same Twitter actions as they used to with the non-wearable devices.

Social networking is not the only task that people will be able to do with the help of the glasses; various news applications have also been created for the wearable device. CNN and Elle have been the first to announce their support for the Google Glass project.

CNET News, along with other tech reporters, have regained their hope in the future of Nokia as the company announced on Friday that their Windows Phone is now the third most-sold device on the smartphone market. The news was confirmed by market researcher IDC after figures have shown that the Finnish company’s phone exceeded the global market shipments of BlackBerry in the first quarter of the year.

Based on the report provided by market researcher IDC, Nokia has shipped more than 7 million smartphones since the beginning of the year; thus, managing to gain a market share of 3.2 percent. Analysts have declared themselves impressed by the remarkable growth that the company has registered, considering that in 2012, the company managed to ship only 3 million handsets and obtain a market share of only 2 percent.

In spite of the recent announcements and reforms that Canadian company, BlackBerry has made, their market share dropped significantly last quarter. IDC told the media that during the same period, BlackBerry did not ship more than 6.3 million smartphones and their market share dropped to 2.9 percent. Comparatively, the market share was 6.4 percent, whereas the number of shipped items equaled 9.7 million during last year’s first quarter.

After years of technological numbness, it seems like Nokia has finally managed to recover its strength on the smartphone market and remove all investors’ fears. Windows Phone has registered the biggest increase, making analysts hope that Microsoft’s operating system could capture consumers’ attention, after all. As a matter of fact, it was Microsoft’s operating system that helped raise Nokia’s shipments by 20.3 million handsets.

IDC analyst Kevin Restivo told reporters at CNET News that it is for the first time in a very long time that Nokia occupies the third place among smartphone producers. This validates, in his opinion, the direction that Nokia and his partner, Microsoft, is taking. However, the recent gains are not enough to acknowledge Windows Phone as an alternative to Android and iOS; the company would have to register many more shipments until its position on the market will eventually be solidified.
