It seems that Drew Barrymore has finally decided to make a new step on the way to conclude her separation from estranged husband Will Kopelman. The actress has just filed for divorce. So, Drew filed the papers for her legal separation from Will a few months after officially announcing the split.
The divorce papers were filed in the Manhattan Supreme Court. Drew and Will ended their marriage after no less than four years together. So, the pair wedded in 2012 and have always seemed to be a happy couple. Thus, the divorce news came as a shock at the time when the pair announced their separation.
“Sadly our family is separating legally, although we do not feel this takes away from us being a family,” an official statement released by the two indicated back in April. “Divorce might make one feel like a failure, but eventually you start to find grace in the idea that life goes on” the statement added. However, the pair claimed that despite their split, their children remain their main priority for “the rest of our lives.”
Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman have two daughter together, Olive and Frankie. The fact that the two separated in good terms is also indicated by the divorce proceedings which show that the split has been marked as uncontested in court. Drew has not talked about the divorce filing for the moment.
However, this is not the first divorce for the star. Drew has been through two other divorces until now. The star has previously ended her marriage to Jeremy Thomas after only about a year together. She also divorced Tom Green, back in 2012. Drew and Tom have also been married for about one year.
Although the divorce reportedly came as a mutual agreement, some rumors indicated that Drew was not doing that well following the split. One source claimed that Drew actually believed that she was the main reason why her marriage to Will had ended. During an interview with Good Housekeeping, Drew actually talked about that. She revealed that her friend Nancy told her what was the reason why her relationships ended.
“She’s like, ‘I did notice that there’s a common denominator problem in all of your relationships and I’d like to identify it right now,'” Drew said. “And I’m like, ‘What!? I’ve been waiting! Show me the light!’ She’s like, ‘It’s you,'” she concluded.
