Love can easily be found on Facebook. And this couple proves that best. The two who met on Facebook back in 2007 decided to get engaged now. The beautiful wedding proposal was made nowhere else than at Facebook headquarters.
Steve Kawalit and Nafis Joon met on Facebook about 6 years ago. It all started with a poke. Steve poked the stranger who appeared on his timeline and after weeks of chatting on the social network, the two decided to finally meet up. After six years together, Steve decided that the right time to propose to his girlfriend has come.
Steve claimed that to make the proposal absolutely unique, he had chosen the headquarters of Facebook, the social network where he met the love of his life. Naturally, the day started beautifully for Joon, who was actually feeling extremely lucky to attend this private tour at the headquarters of Facebook, in Menlo Park, California. Naturally, she had no idea what Steve was preparing.
In the middle of the tour, Joon was asked by a Facebook employee to turn around. When she did so, she could see the words “Nafis, will you marry me?” on a big screen. Then, Steve dropped down on one knee and pulled the engagement ring, asking the big question. “When people ask us how we met, we said through mutual friends,” Steve said. “Well, today, you meet your mutual friends. Nafis, I love you very much. You are my best friend. Will you marry me?” Naturally, her answer was yes, as Joon nodded, after which the couple hugged.
Joon was extremely moved and very happy. She even posted the marriage proposal video on her Facebook page. The video was accompanied by a post. “What I thought was a private tour inside Facebook’s Headquarters in Menlo Park, was actually an elaborate scheme. Steve, with the help of some Facebook employees, turned Hacker Square into my own surprise proposal!! You got me good Kawalit … and now you got me for life,”Joon shared with her friends.
Even Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg showed up to congratulate the happy couple on their engagement.
