Costume Institute Gala To Be Live Streamed For The First Time

Fashion lovers will be able to stay up to date with all the events at the Costume Institute Gala as the party will be live streamed for the first time this year. Based on a recent report published by the Associated Press, the Oscars of the fashion industry will be transmitted with the help of social networks and online websites.

Oscars are always live streamed, so why shouldn’t the Oscars of the fashion industry be live streamed, too? That’s the question that the organizers of the Red Carpet party tried to answer when they agreed to make a live transmission of the prestigious event. Thanks to them, fashionistas can keep an eye on their favorite designers through the websites of Amazon, Vogue and Met Museum.

This is for the first time when the gala goes social, so organizers are a little bit nervous that things might not come out as planned. The Twitter channel of the Costume Institute Gala is expected to become flooded with fashionistas’ questions directed at celebrity attendees. The live coverage will be hosted by William Norwich and model Elettra Wiedemann who will also get interviews from guests. Carey Mulligan, Miuccia Prada, and Anna Wintour are the celebrities who will be interviewed the first because they are the co-chairs of the gala. Those who have certain questions they would like to address to guests can post their messages on Twitter with the hashtag #metquestions.

During the Costume Institute Gala, designers pick celebrities as dates and dress them with their best pieces. Several couturiers have already named their dates for the upcoming edition of the gala. Joseph Altuzarra will dress singer Lana Del Rey, while Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez will take care of actress’ Isabel Lucas style for the evening. Last year, the best dressed celebrities were Rihanna in Stella McCartney, Beyoncé Knowles in Emilio Pucci and Diane Kruger in Jason Wu.

The Costume Institute gala is set to start on May 7. This year’s edition will be held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art which will witness the arrival of numerous stars between 18:30 and 20:30 EST, so don’t forget to watch the show online.
