A year has passed since the moment when Cory Monteith has passed away. June 13 marks the one year anniversary of the Glee star. Now, the father of the popular actor decided to talk about the loss of his son.
Joe Monteith opened up about the death of his son during an interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada. The man claimed that “I still miss him very much.” Joe also added that “I still have the empty feeling inside.” Moreover, the father of the famous Glee star said that what hurt him the most was the fact that he wasn’t even invited to the funeral of his son.
So, during this latest interview Joe said that his ex-wife, Cory’s mom, was the one who chose not to invite him at the funeral of his son. “I didn’t get to go to his viewing, which would have meant a lot,” he said. The man added that this was extremely hard for him, as he was not able to say good bye.
However, “I did receive an email from his mother a couple of days ago [and] in the near future she’s going to be sending me some of his stuff,” the man claimed. Joe also decided to talk about Cory’s famous girlfriend, Lea Michele. The man claimed that Lea should move on and try to be as happy as possible.
“She’s a beautiful young woman, she’s just getting to the top of her career and I don’t expect her to go out and do it alone,” Joe said, adding that she should “enjoy life.” Joe claimed that he knows that the two loved each other very much, “but life’s gotta go on.”
At the time of Cory’s death, his father was estranged from him and the whole family. Actually, for most of his life, Cory’s dad has not been there for him, reports have indicated. Only a few years before the actor’s death, the two tried to reconnect. Joe Monteith divorced Ann McGregor, Cory’s mom, back in 1989.
In the memory of the talented actor, fans have posted and shared images of the star on their social media accounts.
