Despite the fact that George Clooney does not want to be married again, his current girlfriend, Elisabetta Canalis, believes in marriage and says she will be a wife someday.
Canalis, who is now 32 years old, told Chi Magazine ( an Italian magazine ) that she “will be married” one day. “I am a firm believer in marriage. In the future I will be married” she said in the interview. But the also adds that for the time being she feel ok about her status. “But for the time being, I am happy as I am.” It’s not like she really has a choice, if she wants to be with George Clooney.
The Hollywood beau, who is now 50, was married before, for a short period of time, and believes that he is not marriage material. He got married in 1989 to actress Talia Balsam, which you may know from the AMC series “Mad Men”. Not even the 7 year itch had the chance to kick in. The couple shook rapidly and the union ended up in a divorce only four years later, in 1993. Since then, Clooney didn’t have any wedding thoughts anymore. This January, in an appearance to Piers Morgan Tonight ( airing on CNN ) he was asked by his father Nick if he considered marriage. He started answering by telling the show host “I hate to blow your whole news story, but I was married” and continued by answering his father as well: “Yeah, so I’ve proven how good I was at it, and I just. … I’m allowed one.”
Despite Clooney’s statements, Canalis believes that the press makes up stories about her and her boyfriend and that she is aware of the negativism of the media. “They all say that I spend my time organizing parties and that my boyfriend does not want to marry me and be with me anymore.” She adds that her beau hasn’t given interviews about his personal life since 1999. “Everything that you read is just a rehash of stuff that has been written in the past” she said.
It is not very clear if the Italian beauty believes she will be married to Clooney that she will be a wife to another someday. However, this is not very important at the moment, as she also said that the time for marriage for her is not near, as she doesn’t feel the need to start a family just yet. “My maternal instinct has not kicked in yet. My mother says when it does, it will be like a lightening bolt.”
