Chris Pratt decided to open up about his weight problems. The star claimed that being overweight is “bad for your heart, your skin, your system, your spirit.” Chris claimed that his health, but also his personal life and his career had to suffer because of the struggle with extra pounds.
“I was impotent, fatigued, emotionally depressed. I had real health issues that were affecting me in a major way,” the star went on to add. Chris made the revelations during an interview with Men’s Health UK. The famous actor explained that being overweight affects people physically and mentally, and this is exactly what happened to him.
Chris explained that having to lose or to gain weight for several of his roles also helped developing this problem. “I’d gone back and forth, lost weight for Moneyball, got fat again, then trimmed down for Zero Dark Thirty (2012), then gained it all back again for Andy [Parks and Recreation]. That’s when I saw Zero Dark Thirty and right after walking out I was like: ‘I’m going to get in shape and I’m never going to be fat again’,” he said.
The Hollywood star said that the extra pounds made his really unhappy and he actually found emotional eating as the way to cope with everything. “When I was fat and unhappy, the only moments of respite I got were when I was eating. I felt great shovelling food down my neck and totally negative in between,” the star said. “Now mealtimes are sometimes lame, because that’s the way it can be when you’re eating healthily. But all the time between meals, I feel great.”
However, when he realized that something was wrong, he took action and now the famous actor is in a perfect body shape. Still, the actor confessed that the delicious meals that his wife, Anna Faris, prepared for him were also an important reason to eat more than what he should have. “I put on weight because I’d fallen in love with a woman who loved to feed her man,” the Hollywood star concluded.
