The world of music and Linkin Park fans from all around the world were shocked with the latest news. Chester Bennington, the frontman of the famous band, committed suicide. Bennington hanged himself at a private residence in Los Angeles.
The famous singer was 41 years old. TMZ reported that the star was found dead at the property in Palos Verdes Estates on Thursday morning. The exact reason why Chester committed suicide has not been revealed at this point. However, it has been reported that he had been dealing with drugs and alcohol addiction for years.
Previously, Chester revealed that he thought about committing suicide because he was abused as a child by an older man. Another thing that has been revealed at this point is that Chester has been a close friend with famous singer Chris Cornell. Cornell also committed suicide this year, in May. Furthermore, Chester killed himself on the day when Chris would have turned 53.
Chester and Chris were so close that after it has been revealed that Chris passed away, Chester posted a very emotional message on social media saying that he “can’t imagine a world without you in it.”
The news of Chester’s death was almost immediately confirmed by his bandmate, Mike Shinoda, who shared a message on social media saying: “Shocked and heartbroken, but it’s true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one.”
Soon after, several reports claimed that Chester had been dealing with depression for quite some time. Several reports talked about a previous interview with Chester, who revealed his struggles. “I find myself getting into these patterns of behavior or thought – especially when I’m stuck up here [in my head]; I like to say that ‘this is like a bad neighborhood, and I should not go walking alone,” he said. The famous singer also said that most of his problems are actually caused by himself.
Chester had six children. He was married to Talinda Ann Bentley, and the two have actually been married for no less than 12 years. No other details have been revealed at this point.
