Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of the former US President Bill Clinton, starts working for NBC News, Associated Press reports. The TV channel’s reps have confirmed the hiring of the 31-year-old for several of their ongoing projects.
Chelsea Clinton is now a journalist. Or a TV personality. NBC News has hired her to work on several projects. One of them is “NBC Nightly News”. Another one is “Rock Center”, the news magazine of Brian Williams. Clinton is going to host the “Making a Difference” series, which consists in covering positive stories on individuals and companies.
This will be Chelsea’s first step into television. Previously, she worked as a business consultant. But NBC saw potential in the only daughter of the 90’s president, as it happened in the case of another president’s daughter, Jenna Bush Hager, also working for NBC, at the “Today” show.
Steve Capus, the president of NBC News said that he and the Clinton family have been in talks for Chelsea’s position since July. “It’s not about Chelsea Clinton saying, ‘Here I am; I want to be a TV star”, Capus wanted to outline. He said that after a discussion with Chelsea, she said she was really passionate about the “Making a Difference” project. “That’s the kind of thing, if this were to happen, that I would really like to do”, she had told him.
Through her present work, as well as through her involvement in previous no profit projects, Mrs. Clinton says she wants to prove her grandmother’s saying right: “Life is not about what happens to you, but about what you do with what happens to you.”
