Celine Dion has been through some very difficult moments following the death of her husband, Rene Angelil, in January 2016. Well, Celine has now decided to open up about this event, talking about her final moments with Rene.
“We were living in hope, knowing that there is no hope,” the famous actress said according to People. Rene Angelil battled throat cancer for several years before his death. Celine has been by his side throughout this entire time.
“There were times when I was very, very scared and he’d write me ‘The end is near, I feel it.’ I would go back and say, ‘How can you say that? Are you in more pain?’ Now I know it’s possible for someone dying to feel when it comes,” the singer said.
“You know what, I’m 48 years old and I lost the love of my life. I miss him a lot from when he was great but not when he was suffering. I cannot be selfish. You have to let people go. I feel at peace,” Celine also said. During an appearance on Good Morning America, the singer revealed that she talked a lot to Rene in his final days. “I talked to him in his ear. I kissed him so much,” she claimed.
Celine also said that she told her husband to be at peace and not worry about her or their children. “The kids are fine. I’m fine. I promise you we’re gonna be OK. Please leave in peace. I don’t want you to worry,” Celine said to have told Rene. The actress revealed that he always worried for everything and she just wanted him to be at peace.
The singer also revealed how difficult it was to tell the children that their father was gone. She actually used the kids’ favorite movie, Up, to help them understand. Celine also said that she became stronger, as her husband left her all his strength. “Every day we live with him, just not physically. I’m thankful that he does not suffer anymore,” the singer concluded.
