Otis Redding’s song, “Try A Little Tenderness” released in the ‘60s is now resurrected by musicians Kanye West and Jay-Z. Their now song, “Otis”, premiered on Wednesday. And they are not the only ones that believed in the power of Tenderness over the years, MTV says.
Soul singer Otis Redding has released “Try A Little Tenderness” in 1966. Since then, many have performed it and it is now considered a classic: an oldie, but goldie. And this is not metaphorically speaking only, because Jay-Z and Kanye West are determined to turn the old sound into gold. 40 years after the recording of the most notable interpretation of the song, they resurrected the sound on their new track included in their “Watch the Throne” LP.The song, named “Otis”, premiered on Wednesday on the DJ Funkmaster Flex’sHot 97 radio show. In the next hours it spread on the web.
“Otis” starts with a few moments from the original performance of Otis Redding’s “Try A Little Tenderness”. Then the vintage images are replaced as Redding vanishes and the piano part is chopped off and reinvented.
The highly expected LP has kept fans waiting and confused. Initially, they announced that the Watch the Throne was going to be released on August 1. There is no news that would say otherwise until now. But “Otis” and “H.A.M.” are the only songs that are released from the LP, so it is still an enigma.
The original song, “Try A Little Tenderness” has been sung by numerous artists. It was written by James Campbell and Reginald Connelly and was first recorded in 1932 by the Ray Noble Orchestra. One year later, Bing Crosby and Ruth Etting sang it as well. Since then, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Aretha Franklin have all made their own interpretations of “Tenderness” but still, Otis Redding’s performance is the most notable of all times.
This weekend, the teen pop sensation Justin Bieber and luv Selena Gomez have gained the title of the latest wedding crashers. While in Malibu, they stopped at a wedding party when they heard one of Bieber’s songs playing. The cousin of the bride taped it all, E! Entertainment says.
A couple of newlyweds had the surprise of their lives when they saw Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, one of the most famous teen couple worldwide, crashing their nuptials party. According to Bieber, he was driving by the wedding reception when he heard his song “One Less Lonely Girl” being sung. So he and Selena postponed their initial destination and decided to check out the party. The bride’s cousin, who recorded their wedding crash, uploaded the video on YouTube and gave more details on what had happened that night. “Last night at my cousin Jeanine’s wedding reception, out of nowhere, Justin Bieber shows up while one of his songs was being karaoked by one of the wedding guests.” What were the odds, right? The amateur camerawoman also shares details on what his visit was like. She says that the singer “ended up making a celebrity appearance, posing for pics with the bride and groom. Then took pics with some fans and then ran off with Selena [sic] Gomez, who was waiting off to the side, back to his car.”
Bieber was wearing a white T-shirt bearing the intials “S” and “J” ( guess where they are inspired from!) He took pictures with the bride and groom, who eventually were proven to be Jeanie Holguin, who was 31, and Roc McCool, who was 32. He was a producer at a post-production house in Los Angeles. OnTheRedCarpet.com got more information about the event. One of the guests told the online magazine that “the DJ was playing that “Baby baby” song of his and I heard some kid get on the mic and start singing it.” Then he said that he heard the girls starting creaming and taking the cell phones out to take pictures. He realized at that point that the teenager at the microphone was THE Justin Bieber. “I didn’t see Selena”, the guest added.
Check-out the video on YouTube to see the frenzy that Bieber created.
Justin Timberlake, who recently got invited to the Marine Corps Ball in November by Kelsey De Santis, a Marine Corporal, says he accepts the invitation rather for a personal reason than an objective one. After encouraging friend actress Mila Kunis to go to the Ball with Sgt. “Scottie” telling her she has to do it “for the country”, the singer says when invited as well, because he found it flattering.
“I don’t get asked out… ever”, Justin confesses to Access Hollywood. “So I was very flattered by that” he added.
Last week, Corporal Kelsey De Santis uploaded a video request on YouTube, in which she asked pop icon Justin Timberlake to accompany her at the Marine Corps Ball in November as her date. She was very nervous while filming it, but at the end she joked saying that if he couldn’t make it, “all I can say is Cry Me A River”.
This came as an effect to what Justin had said a week before, when Friends With Benefits co-star Mila Kunis was first invited to the ball by a Marine Sergeant. She didn’t know how to react and Justin encouraged her to go. When she asked if he would come, too, he answered “They don’t want me, they want you”. So there you go! Now he is invited, as well.
Timberlake said he did not feel forced to accept the invitation. “I don’t feel backed into a corner at all,” he told Access Hollywood. He said he accepted the invitation, but not because he was flattered by the mentioning of his song or threatened by “all those beefcake military guys behind her”, as he put it. He was not sure about his schedule at the time but said that if he has the time, “I’d love to do it. It’s an honor”.
“And I hear that she’s trained in martial arts so I’m hoping that we can tousle at some point” he joked.
Things are not looking good for Pink Floyd guitarist’s oldest son, Charlie Gilmour. According to Reuters, David Gilmour’s son has been arrested and will spend up to 16 months in jail for violent behavior during a protest in London.
On Friday, during a protest of the students regarding the student fees, which took place in London, Charlie Gilmour, who is 21 years old, was arrested for violent behavior during the protest. He was hanging from a Union Jack flag on the Cenotaph war memorial. He was seen leaping on the car that Prince Charles and Camilla were traveling in, a Jaguar which was part of a convoy.
The lawyer of Charlie Gilmour has struggled to defend him from the effects of another violent outburst which involved him throwing a trash bin towards the car. However, this matter was not disputed anymore when the Press Association said that Judge Nicholas Price reported to Kingston-upon-Thames Crown Court in southwest London that the young man had in fact thrown the bin with no hesitation. Gilmour was also charged with destroying a property for breaking the window of a clothing store on Oxford Street, tearing up a mannequin and making off with one of the puppet’s legs.
Gilmour was involved in another protest last year, in December. Back then, he was heard yelling: “We’re going to break all the laws!”
Charlie Gilmour, who is a student at the Cambridge University, was reported to have changed radically since his biological father, Heathcote Williams (an English artist: poet actor, sculptor and painter), wanted nothing to do with him. Since then, he started using drugs and drinking. Prior to the rampage that occurred on Friday, Gilmour had taken LSD and valium.
Guitarist David Gilmour adopted Charlie who was his wife’s son with artist Heathcote Williams. The couple has three more children: Joe, Gabriel and Romany.
The world of celebrities welcomes one more bundle of joy: it’s a boy for Jewel and husband Ty Murray. The singer gave birth to the couple’s first child on Monday, Access Hollywood informs.
It appears that 2011 is the year of the Hollywood Baby Boom. And let’s make it clear, it’s not just Hollywood. Celebrities all over the world welcome baby boys and baby girls. This time it is Jewel who is the lucky mom. She and her husband, Ty Murray, who is a professional bull rider, are the proud parents of a baby boy named Kase Townes. The couple made the announcement on the singer’s website. “Ty and I are so pleased to welcome our new baby boy into the world” she writes. “We are overcome with happiness – it really is as great as everyone told us it would be – better even.”
The baby was born at 7 in the evening and he weight 7 lbs., 6 oz. Kase came after the couple struggled to have a baby for two years. Jewel found out that she was pregnant in January, on her first day to the reality competition for songwriting, “Going Platinum”. “I took a pregnancy test and it was positive!” She was worried about keeping the news a secret, saying that “I was worried I’d start throwing up on set and everyone would be like, ‘Oh, she’s pregnant.'”
Jewel Kilcher, 37, and Ty Murray, 41, married in 2008 in Bahamas, after dating for ten years. Jewel has also been romantically linked to actor Sean Penn and musician Steve Poltz. Ty Murray is a nine-time world champion at rodeo. He has made several appearances in movies (as himself) – Walker Texas Ranger and CSI, in reality TV series – Fast Cars and Superstars: The Gillette Young Guns Celebrity Race. In 2007 he had his own TV show called Ty Murray’s Celebrity Bull Riding Challenge in which he had to teach several celebrities the art of rodeo.
R&B singer Monica, best known for her hit single “The Boy Is Mine” weds L.A. Lakers Shannon Brown for the second time, according to People magazine. They have thrown a huge wedding party on Saturday, inviting a long list of friends and relatives. The couple has actually been married since November last year, in a very private ceremony held at their home.
Now, unlike the secret and quiet ceremony last year, they went public with the announcement and had a huge list of guests. They wanted to be surrounded by hundreds of family members and friends. Among the names on the guest list, there are LaLa Vasquez, Carmelo Anthony, Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher. However, Brown could not enjoy the presence of all his friends, as the NBA lockout forbids players and team personnel to interact in other places than at a match and training.
The wedding had a blue and purple theme and the guests enjoyed a three-course meal. In order for the wedding to be as beautiful as they imagined, they hired a professional wedding planner that has experience with celebrity weddings: Mindy Weiss coordinated the party, serving Fat Burger at the reception and Charm City Cake served for dessert.
Monica and Shannon met in June 2010 when Brown starred in one of her music videos called “Love All Over Me”. Almost four months later, the L.A. Lakers player proposed to the singer. Born Monica Denise Arnold, the R&B artist is now 30 years old and has a son, Rodney Ramone, with ex husband Rodney “Rocko” Hill, a real estate manager. Ramone is 6 years old. Shannon Brown is 25 years old and has two children from a previous relationship.
Monica confessed that she was looking forward to this moment. “I am blessed to have married the man that God sent me,” she says in a statement to HipHollywood. “I look forward to our lives together.”

Rocker Matt Bellamy has big plans for his music career. He wants that the next step for Muse to be in outer space. The band’s frontman wants to record on the Virgin Galactic spacecraft of bazillionaire Richard Branson.
Remember the animated movie “Barbie and the Rock Stars”? Barbie had an ambition that most of the music artists have at some point: to do something out of this world. So she wants to organize a concert, a live one, transmitted from outer space, where she and her band would perform. Well, the Muse has similar plans. Matt Bellamy, the lead man, says the band aims to rock somewhere in a spacecraft, launched in space.
Matt Bellamy spoke to ContactMusic about his future plans. He said that he and his band mates are “trying to blag a free trip on it”. He is striving to convince Richard Branson to use his spacecraft in order to record a song or to make a music video. Asked if he would be scared recording out of this world he said that “I think I’ll be alright.”. Earlier in the spring, Bellamy made the first public announcement regarding his plans. As Gibson.com reports, the singer said at the Ivor Novello Awards that Muse aims to be “the first band to play in outer space. We gave Richard Branson one of our songs for an airline advert, so we’ve got our foot in the door.”
Bellamy, 33, who recently became the father of a healthy beautiful baby boy, has one more reason to ask for more from life. He and fiancée, actress Kate Husdon, 32, became parents of their first baby together. The actress has one more son, Ryder, who is 7 years old. Hudson’s representative said that the family is very happy and one insider tells Us Weekly that they “look adorable together.” Maybe now Matt’s baby could be the first baby in outer space in a music video.
Rocker Michael Todd, the bassist from the band Coheed and Cambria, was arrested for robbery on Sunday. He was charged with robbing a pharmacy in Attleboro just a few hours before the band started a show. Apparently, he was in urgent need of painkillers, Fox News reports.

The text said that he had a bomb upon him. The pharmacist gave him 6 bottles of Oxycontin as specified in the message. After that, Todd quickly fled into a taxi and headed to the place where the concert was to take place. Coheed and Cambria had to play in the opening of the Soundgarden at the Comcast Center in Mansfield.
The Attleboro police officers arrived at the place of the show just before it began and took Michael Todd into custody. He is being charged with robbing a pharmacy and will be arraigned on Monday in the Attleboro District Court, as scheduled.

In a recent interview to Standard Magazine singer Ellie Goulding talks about her encounter to the royal couple and how they invited her to sing at their wedding. She said that William gushed and asked her to sing for their first dance together as bride and groom. The couple saw Goulding at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Bangor, in May 2010.
The 24-year-old singer was introduced to the couple in May 2010 after her performance at the Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Bangor. Backstage, Prince Williams and Kate Middleton, the future Duke and Duchess of Cambridge congratulated her for the show. ”He is so nice, just genuinely the nicest human being,” Goulding said about the Duke. “Prince William was just really gushing, and like, ‘I really enjoyed the show’”, she told the magazine.
Later, an aid of the palace came to her band rehearsing for the following USA tour and booked them for the Royal wedding on April 29. Goulding said she did not mention that the person sent to sign with them was from the Palace. “I kept it a secret – I just told them to be on their best behavior.”
The confirmation for the wedding performance came after the American tour and Goulding says she and the band rehearsed for weeks so that everything would be perfect at the royal event. “We all just forgot about it because we had to focus 100 % on the task in hand, which was America,” she said. “But when we got back, even though we’d just toured, we rehearsed for another week just for the wedding” the artist added.
The first song, for the first bride and groom dance, was Your Song. Then the band performed covers by Stevie Wonder and the Killers.
The singer also speaks in the interview about her battle with herself after her father left, when she was five. “I was giving myself the pressure of being this other person and succeeding” Goulding says, also mentioning a darker side of her, “who was meant to go down the bad route – dead-end jobs, taking drugs, being gobby, not giving a f***.” But she wisely concludes that “I have to accept it will never fully leave me.”
