The scandal involving Harvey Weinstein is getting bigger by the day. Now, the allegations have moved from sexual harassment and rape to threats and intimidation. Two actresses, Sienna Miller and Felicity Huffman, said that they were threatened by Weinstein, who made them wear the label released by his wife, Marchesa.
So, Weinstein allegedly threatened the stars to help promote the fashion brand released by his wife, Georgina Chapman. Sienna said that for her the threat happened in 2006, after she starred in the movie Factory Girl. She was made to wear Marchesa at the Golden Globe Awards, as she sat next to Weinstein and Chapman. Sienna said that the Hollywood producer told her “he would be very upset if she didn’t wear Marchesa.”
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the fashion brand was actually Weinstein’s project, while his wife was perfectly aware of his behavior, but chose to ignore it because of the benefits they both had from their relationship. “He was the mastermind behind Marchesa – orchestrating deals and using his influence in terms of the celebrity connections for her on behalf of the brand,” a source told the celebrity site.
When it comes to Felicity, the Desperate Housewives star stared a similar story. She was threatened that Weinstein would stop promoting her 2015 movie Transamerica, if she wouldn’t wear Marchesa on the red carpet. The actress confirmed the story.
All these stories regarding Weinstein have started to expand and lead to new consequences. After the allegations emerged, Georgina decided to leave her husband. However, she did not comment on the claims made regarding her fashion brand. “My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions. I have chosen to leave my husband,” Georgina said. “Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time,” her statement added.
Actors Matt Damon and Ben Affleck were accused of knowing about Weinstein’s behavior towards women. However, the two famous actors, who are known to have worked on several occasions with Weinstein, said they found out about his acts when the allegations emerged in the media.
