The Big Bang Theory unseen actress Carol Ann Susi died at the age of 62. Few people know this, but Ann actually was a star of the famous television series. She voiced Mrs. Wolowitz. It has been revealed that the star suffered from cancer, which had led to her dead.
Following the sad news, Warner Bros. released a statement. “The Big Bang Theory family has lost a beloved member today with the passing of Carol Ann Susi, who hilariously and memorably voiced the role of Mrs. Wolowitz,” the show’s producers said in their official statement. The same statement added that Carol Ann was an amazingly talented comedian.
“In addition to her talent, Carol Ann was a constant source of joy and kindness to all. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with her family during this time, and we will miss her greatly,” it said. Carol Ann Susi as Mrs. Wolowitz was almost never seen on screen, which surely managed to create a mystery regarding this character.
So, Mrs. Wolowitz was only barely seen on screen at the wedding of her son Howard, in the fifth season finale. Seeing Mrs. Wolowitz on camera was never in plans, as the character was really interesting this way. At this point, it remains unclear how the death of the star impacts the show. Moreover, since this season Mrs. Wolowitz had a central storyline after Stewart moved in with her. There were many funny moments linked to this story, as Howard actually became very jealous on Stewart, believing that he replaced him in the heart of his mom.
Carol Ann Susi made various television show appearances throughout the years, but she also starred in theatrical productions. The actress played the role of a lady dating George in the highly famous television series Seinfeld. She also made guest appearances on Cheers, Doggie Howser, Mad About You and Six Feet Under. Susi’s other credits include Married… with Children, That ’70s Show, Grey’s Anatomy and Coyote Ugly.
“My heart is broken. I will miss your smile. Your spirit is forever with us,” Big Bang Theory star Kunal Nayyar tweeted after finding out about the sad news.
