Burt Reynolds is at the center of a huge criticism after making some controversial comments about Charlie Sheen and his HIV diagnosis. The popular star said that the former Two and a Half Men actor actually deserved to be HIV positive.
So, Burt Reynolds was asked about Charlie Sheen’s diagnosis during an interview with Loose Women. Burt was also associated to some HIV diagnosis rumors, which he finally managed to combat. “He’s handled it badly, I think,” Burt said. “His father is a very, very decent man and a dear friend of mine. I feel bad for him but Charlie, I don’t feel bad for him. He’s getting what he deserves. If you’re going to misbehave like that, they’re going to get you,” he went on to add.
“He misbehaved badly. Very badly. But you know, when you’re that age, it’s tough. All those things are coming at you and it’s difficult,” Burt Reynolds said. Well, immediately after his comments were made public, people started to react on social media, criticizing him and calling him ignorant. Of course, what everyone was trying to say is that it wouldn’t be fair to say that someone deserved to be diagnosed with this health condition.
Charlie Sheen confessed that he was HIV positive during an interview on Today show. The actor said that he had known about the disease for quite some time, but he decided to keep everything private. However, Sheen claimed that he was blackmailed by many people who threatened with making public his diagnosis, this is why he decided to share everything himself.
After the diagnosis, Brett Rossi, his former fiancée, filed a lawsuit against Charlie Sheen, accusing the famous actor of hiding his HIV-positive status during their relationship. Sheen seems to be eager to fight this legal complaint, so his lawyer filed for a dismissal of the lawsuit.
“Charlie Sheen intends to vigorously defend the lawsuit filed by Brett Rossi aka Scottine Ross. Numerous witnesses will dispute each and every claim made by Ms. Rossi,” a statement from Sheen’s lawyer said. “We are confident that Mr. Sheen will prevail in this action and also will recover significant damages against her in connection with a pending arbitration that was commenced months ago.”
