Linebacker Brian Urlacher of the Chicago Bears leaves the team and flies to Texas to mourn his mother’s premature death. The Bears released an official announcement on Wednesday , in which it was also stated that it was not yet known if the player would be back in time for the Sunday game in New Orleans, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Brian Urlacher’s mother, Lavoyda, died at the beginning of this week, at her home, in Texas. Nobody expected her death as she had not health problems threatening her life. She was only 53 years old. “This is a very difficult and emotional time for us and I sincerely ask that you respect our privacy”, the player said in a statement he released himself. He also added that his priorities for the days to come have changed. “My first priority right now is to be with my family as we mourn her loss and make the arrangements to lay her to rest.”
No team representative announced when will Urlacher be back to play. However, his team mates believe he is irreplaceable. “You can’t replace a guy like that” quarterback Jay Cutler believes. “You can’t find a guy like that in the league. He’s the heart and soul of this organization.” And he speaks for all the players in the team when he pays his respects and expresses moral and emotional support for his buddy. “We all know he’s going through a tough time right now, but we’re going to respect his privacy and when he gets back we’ll be here for him.”
