It seems that Brad Pitt will be working at The Operators. The famous Hollywood star will have a part in the new Afghanistan War movie, which promises to be an interesting release.
Brad Pitt is said to play the role of Gen. Stanley McChrystal in this upcoming movie. This means that Pitt will play the role of the commanding general of international and US forces in Afghanistan. The Los Angeles Times was the first to report that Pitt is going to interpret this role.
The Operators already is an expected movie. The film will be written and directed by David Michod, who is well known for his work in Animal Kingdom. The movie is said to be based on the book The Operators: The Wild and Terrifying Inside Story of America’s War in Afghanistan. The book was released in 2012 and was written by journalist Michael Hastings. The author of the book passed away last summer, at the age of 33.
General Stanley McChrystal became quite a controversial personality. He was fired in 2010, after making certain remarks about the handling of the war, in an interview for the Rolling Stone. The remarks were considered improper, this is why McChrystal was criticized by many officials. Even the advisers of the president claimed that McChrystal acted in the most inappropriate manner.
President Obama was the one who decided that it was time to let go Gen. Stanley McChrystal. The New York Times reported that the president and his top Afghanistan war commander had a brief meeting in the Oval Office before the decision was taken. The already famous general was replaced by McChrystal’s boss and mentor, Gen David H. Patraeus.
After his naming in this position, Patraeus claimed that the current war strategy of the country will continue such as if nothing had changed.
The new movie will be focused on the story of this famous and controversial general, his rise and his fall. The story goes further to focus on behind the scene stories linked to the general and the time he spend in Afghanistan.
Until now, there are no details on when the movie will be out and when the launch date will be set.
