Blake Lively and Leonardo DiCaprio, no longer an item

Although they claim to be still friends, Blake Lively and Leonardo DiCaprio are no longer an item. According to Us Weekly, they have decided to end their relationship after only a few months of dating. Reps from both celebrities confirmed the news.

The two became a couple during the Cannes Film Festival and were first spotted together on May 17th in Monte Carlo on Steven Spielberg’s yacht. Once open about their relationship, Lively and DiCaprio embarked on a quest of living their summer romance in the most tuned to love places in the world. They visited such locations ranging from Venice – Italy to Anaheim – California and New York. The Gossip Girl actress didn’t think twice about taking a long flight to Sidney just to spend a weekend with DiCaprio, while he was shooting for The Great Gatsby.

Both Blake and Leonardo ended their previous engagements only shortly before becoming a couple. DiCaprio ended his affair with Bar Refaeli, that had lasted for five years on a rollercoaster of on and off episodes. In October 2010, Lively broke up with Penn Badgley, her costar for Gossip Girl, after a romance that lasted for three years.

The couple splitting up took their friends and families by surprise. One of DiCaprio’s close friends stated for Us Weekly that he had never seen his friend act so fondly towards a girl before and that he was quite taken by Blake’s ability to cook. “Leo’s never dated a girl who can cook. And he’s smitten!”The actress had plenty of time to showcase her baking skills while living in DiCaprio’s home in Los Angeles.

Furthermore, close friends of the couple predicted them getting engaged by the end of the year.

Yet, Lively remains true to her attitude towards public opinion and refuses to let it influence her life in any way. During a recent interview for Glamour magazine, the actress revealed her view on relationships. She considers that every experience helps you learn something and grow as a person. Thus, for her “it’s never been too dramatic of a thing when something ends”.
