Birdman is Top Oscars Winner

The 87th Academy Awards ceremony just took place. And of course, there had to be a big winner. The biggest winner of last night was movie Birdman, which took the Oscar for Best Picture, but the highly appreciated movie also took home the award for Best Director, cinematography and original screenplay. So, Birdman won the most important award of the night. Other nominees in best movie category included American Sniper, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Boyhood, The Imitation Game, Selma, The Theory of Everything and Whiplash.  

However, critics claimed that the 2015 Oscars were not that interesting, having under consideration that those who were predicted to win, really did won. J.K. Simmons won the Oscar for actor in a supporting role, while Patricia Arquette took home the award for best actress in a supporting role, the only award of the night for movie Boyhood. This is without a doubt an impressive performance, as the actress actually managed to won in a category in which she had to battle famous stars such as Keira Knightley, Emma Stone and Meryl Streep. 

Best actor was won by Eddie Redmayne, who definitely deserved the award for his great role in The Theory of Everything, in which the star interpreted the role of Stephen Hawking. He was nominated for Best actor alongside Steve Carell, Bradley Cooper and Michael Keaton. On the other hand, Still Alice star Julianne Moore was awarded for her performance in the best actress category, taking the award in front of the other nominees including Reese Witherspoon and Felicity Jones. Common and John Legend were also winners of the night. They received an Oscar for their original song Glory, from movie Selma. 

The best foreign movie category was won by Ida, while Big Hero 6 took home the award for best animated feature. Another big winner of the night was The Grand Budapest Hotel, which received no less than seven awards. The popular movie was awarded for best costume design, makeup and hairstyling, production design and best original score. American Sniper also received an award for sound editing. Whiplash took home two Oscars, for sounding mixing and film editing.
