Betty White has finally accepted technology in her life by joining the Twitter network on Wednesday night. The actress, who turned 90 in January, continues to be just as active as in the “Golden Girls” era. Besides her recent online activity, White also features on two primetime TV shows, including NBC’s “Off Their Rockers”.
Betty White stated last year that she didn’t have a computer and she didn’t know what Facebook was. Despite this, the actress joined the Twitterverse last night gathering more than 150,000 followers within several hours. Bad mouths claim that the “Golden Girl” is just as clumsy when it comes to computers as she was last year. Fans, on the other hand don’t seem to care whether the actress hired a professional or not; they gave a warm-hearted welcome to the 90-year-old actress as soon as she joined the social network.
White did not post many messages on her first Twitter night. She announced everyone that her new show “Off Their Rockers” is about to be released on NBC. Later on, she tweeted Ryan Seacrest to let him now that their shows run in the same time slots. The actress further added “I’ve always dreamed of sharing a night with you…”
Even though she has a long list of followers, Betty White is very selective when it comes to following other people. She only chose to follow 40 persons including President Obama and Selena Gomez. Many celebrities hurried to welcome the “Hot in Cleveland” star. Such was the case of Alyssa Milano who wrote on White’s profile “BIG twitterverse WELCOME Betty!!!”
The design of the profile is rather simple, too. The account manager, whomever that may be, chose a picture in which Betty White is getting a tattoo. The pic is very representative for the nonagenarian lady who is never afraid of trying new things.
It remains to be seen whether Betty White will get acquainted with other social media tools, like Facebook, for instance. As far as we know, the actress refused to get an email account because she thought the traditional mail was easier to handle.
