Ben Breedlove Gets To Rapper Kid Cudi

The death of the 18-year-old teenager from Austin got everybody’s attention and his story touched Americans across the country. Ben Breedlove’s death on Christmas Day as well as his struggle in dealing with a heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) got to rapper Kid Cudi too.

Ben Breedlove’s story is the more amazing as before dying he had the courage and willingness to do something for other people dealing with the same health condition. He posted his life story in a two part video available on YouTube.

Breedlove’s last confessions brought most of America to tears during Christmas and manage to get nationwide media coverage. The teenager talks about everything in his life, from cheating death several times, to explaining how he got by when things looked grim. All in all, his message is a great lesson about living your life with joy and trying to make something out of it despite the hardships.

A specific part in his videos was related to rapper Kid Cudi. Ben recalls a moment when he passed out in his high school hallway and experienced a vision during which he received a visit from his favorite rapper, Kid Cudi. The teenager wrote a notecard in the video with the following explanation: “I then looked at myself in the mirror. I was proud of MYSELF, of my entire life, everything I have done”.

The message impressed rapper Kid Cudi so much that he wrote on his blog: “ I am [sic] so sad about Ben Breedlove. I watched the video he left for the world to see, and him seeing me in detail, in his vision really warmed my heart”. It seems the teenager really got to him, because the rapper continues saying: “I broke down, I am [sic] to tears because I hate how life is so unfair. This has really touched my heart in a way I cant describe, this is why I do what I do”. Rapper Kid Cudi concludes his message saying Ben’s a “real hero”.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a health condition that affects the heart. It is basically a thickening of the heart muscle which makes it difficult for the heart to pump blood. As a result, it leads to chest pain, high blood pressure and down the road heart failure.
