Apparently, famous actor Ben Affleck will not be playing the role of Batman for long. The star is currently promoting the upcoming Justice League movie, which is set to appear in November, but it seems that the producers of Batman do not have long term plans involving the famous actor.
Actually, it has been reported that the Warner Bros. studio is working to exit Ben from the movies. People reported that the studio actually plans on addressing this change somehow in its upcoming films. A source talking to People, allegedly close to the situation, said that the decision has already been made by the studio and most likely Ben Affleck will not be seen in the role of Batman for long.
The insider did not reveal too much on this subject, so it remains unclear when this will happen and if Ben is aware of the plans. However, there are definitely some indications pointing towards that, as the studio has previously decided to step away from the plan involving Ben directing the films. Furthermore, the studio is also dropping the script written by Ben.
Some reports have claimed that a reason for the studio to renounce its collaboration with Ben would be given by his age. The studio and the movie’s director might think of a trilogy for Batman and Ben is 45 years old. This would mean that he would star in the movies in his mid-50s and that might not be easy to do. However, this is just speculation at this point.
The report contradicts previous claims on this subject from Toby Emmerich, Warner Bros.’ film studio chief, who said that the studio wanted to keep Ben as Batman for as long as possible. “Ben is our Batman. We love him as Batman. We want to keep him in the cowl as long as we can,” he said. A similar message was shared by Matt Reeves, the director of the upcoming Batman movie, who also said that he wants Ben to play this role for as long as possible.
For the moment, there is no official confirmation on this, so it remains unclear if any of these rumors are true.
