Available at the price of 299 dollars, the new Asus ZenFone 2 will definitely be a hard player on the mid-range smartphones market. Probably, if the 4GB Asus ZenFone 2 was a couple of dollars cheaper, it would be the most recommended phone at the moment. However, a 2GB version of the device is available at the price of 199 dollars.
Both versions are available starting May 19th unlocked at Groupon, Newegg and Amazon. ZenFone’s position is a little odd because this model is somewhere in-between flagship and budget, as it lacks the features and performance to be considered a high-end phone.
The new Asus ZenFone 2 comes with an interesting combination, homing an Intel Atom CPU and 4GB of RAM. With an Intel processor inside the phone, is like having a laptop right inside your pocket. On the back of the device, there is placed a 13-megapixel camera, which makes decent photos, but not as good as the ones made with high-end devices such as Apple iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S6.
The Asus ZenFone 2 has a sharp and good 5.5-inch screen, but unfortunately the handset is all covered in plastic and feels bulky and cheap. Probably, customers who are looking to spend less, will want to check out the new Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime, which has decent camera, a longer battery life and costs less than 200 dollars. Of course, the most impressive high-end Android devices at the moment are the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, but these models are available starting at 600 dollars.
Well, the new Asus ZenFone 2 is powered by Intel’s Quad Core Z3580 processor clocked at 2.3GHz and 4GB of RAM. To be mentioned that many other high-end flagship models are released with 3GB at most. The company declared that having 4GB of RAM helps the phone multitask and apps can remain on standby in the background without needing to be offloaded to memory and reloaded. ZenFone 2 has 32GB of onboard storage, and if for some reason this isn’t considered to be enough, the phone also has a microSD slot to add even more space. On the front of the phone, there is located a 5-megapixel selfie camera and the display comes with a full-HD resolution of 1,920×1,080-pixels, featuring Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3.
