Arnold Schwarzenegger and his former wife Maria Shriver have been separated for quite some time. However, it seems that the famous actor still considers this to be a mistake. Arnold actually claimed that his separation from Maria was “the biggest failure.”
The Terminator actor made these revelations during an interview on Howard Stern Show, on Wednesday. The 67 years old actor revealed that he was the one to blame for his divorce, which occurred back in 2011. The actor also admitted that the reason why he and Maria divorced is linked to the fact that he cheated on his wife.
“Not only failure, but you feel like, ‘I’m to blame for it. It was me that screwed up.’ And you can’t point the finger at anyone else. So yeah, I was disappointed at it. It’s always easy to be smart in hindsight. The thing was how do you make the best of that situation?” the famous actor said.
Arnold revealed that although the marriage did not end well, he and his children with Maria are still able to maintain a good relationship. The formerly married couple has four children together. Arnold also said that Maria actually helped him maintain this good relationship with the kids.
Arnold also talked about the former girlfriend of his son, Patrick. In fact, ever since Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger started to date, it has been claimed that Arnold approved the romance and really liked the young singer. Now, when being asked about the two, the actor said that he never worried that Miley’s reputation would turn out being a bad influence over his son.
“One is – My kids are very strong. They have had their upbringing. They know exactly how far they can go and they should be adventurous, they should venture out and meet different people, so I was not worried about that,” the actor claimed. “When I did meet Miley Cyrus, when she came up to Sun Valley skiing during the holidays, I found out that she was a fantastic person,” he added.
So, Arnold said that he considered Miley to be a really wonderful person. The actor admitted that “she has this career side where she maybe has to be a little out there. And is maybe a little different because she grew up in a music family. So what? It didn’t bother me,” he said. Arnold also claimed that the two were happy together, but “then the whole thing fell apart.”
