Ahead of the release of the new iPhone 6, Apple has been in the middle of quite a scandal. The famous company recently announced that it will improve security. Naturally, this decision comes after the famous celeb photo leaking scandal.
Tim Cook revealed on Friday that Apple has experienced no security problem to lead to the hacking of several female celebrity photos. So, Cook said that Apple’s security has not been a problem in the theft of personal photos, but he still promised to improve the security of the famous company. Tim Cook talked about these issues in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.
The CEO of Apple said that the famous company plans on implementing in about two weeks some new security notifications. So, Apple will notify users of suspected malicious activity linked to their accounts. Cook claimed during his interview that what happened in the celebrity hacking case was actually that hackers managed to correctly guess the password reset security questions of the targeted stars or managed to somehow discover their passwords.
According to Apple’s CEO, in about two weeks Apple’s users will be notified via email or notification when an account password is changed, when data on iCloud is downloaded to a new device or when the account is accessed from a new device, for the first time. Moreover, Apple will introduce the two-factor account authentication, for enhanced security.
Tim Cook also claimed that Apple is really interested in security, as it has always been. The CEO of the famous company claimed that Apple is also making efforts to raise the awareness of its users on security issues. So, the tech giant advises its users to access two-factor verification options, which can be extremely important for better security.
Cook revealed in his interview that users should take responsibility and protect their own data. “When I step back from this terrible scenario that happened and say what more could we have done, I think about the awareness piece … I think we have a responsibility to ratchet that up,” the famous CEO said. Apple already started to work at the new features for better security.
