It seems that Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith are no longer a happily married couple. The two have ended their marriage and their divorce has been finalized. So, a Los Angeles Superior court judge has signed the divorce papers and things have officially ended between the two actors.
However, it is important to mention that the whole divorce case will be completely over on December 20. Apparently, this is due the fact that Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith still have to sell their house in Los Angeles. The pair is said to be splitting the sum obtained from selling this property.
Under the terms of the divorce that the two stars agreed upon, Melanie received the house that the couple owned in Aspen, Colorado. The actress is also entitled to half of all the profits, royalties and residuals that the actor earned in the period 2004-2014. However, this might not be all.
Antonio will also have to pay his former wife spousal support. The actor will be required to pay $65,000 per month, which means that he will pay a total of $780,000 per year to Melanie in spousal support. The payments will be made until either party dies or until Melanie remarries. Although the sums are not small, it seems that Antonio agrees with everything.
Melanie Griffith was the one who filed for divorce back in June 2014. The divorce filing definitely came as a shock, as Melanie and Antonio have been married for no less than 18 years. The official divorce papers cited as the reason of the separation irreconcilable differences, but the exact reason why this marriage ended remains unknown.
Melanie and Antonio have one child together, Stella. Melanie asked the sole physical and joint legal custody of Stella. Well, this is not the first divorce for Melanie and Antonio. While the famous actor has only been married once before his wedding to Melanie, the actress’s marriage to Antonio has actually been her fourth. So, this is the fourth divorce for Melanie and the second one for Antonio.
