Anne Hathaway is making the rounds to promote her latest musical “Les Miserables”. She has released numerous interviews telling people about the efforts she had to make in order to play the part of Fantine. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the actress hated her ‘Les Mis’ haircut because it made her look like a boy.
While people praise Anne Hathaway for being audacious enough to ditch her long locks and wear a choppy buzz cut instead, the actress revealed that she had a hard time getting used to the new hairstyle. Playing the part of the French prostitute Fantine has been both a physical and a mental challenge for Hathaway, but she eventually pulled it through.
The 30-year-old star was not very pleased when she first looked at herself in the mirror. She told the press that she thought she looked like her gay brother, who wears a similar haircut. The hairstyle caused additional problems when the actress began planning her wedding as she didn’t know how to wear her hair. She eventually used a vintage headband that turned out to be a perfect match for her wedding gown.
The hair was not the only thing that Anne Hathaway had to lose for the part in “Les Miserables”. Fantine, the prostitute that she interprets, is suffering from tuberculosis, so the actress went through a drastic diet to lose 25 pounds. She revealed that she had to eat only two thin squares of dried oatmeal paste per day for two weeks to reach the weight that made her look near death. Nevertheless, Hathaway, doesn’t regret the efforts she made because she thinks it helped her give a good interpretation of Fantine.
“Les Miserables” is expected to pull in large amounts of revenue due to the many A-list stars that feature in the movie. The actress will be accompanied by Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.
