Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are no longer a couple. The famous actress has decided to file for divorce from her long term partner. Several media outlets reported that the divorce papers were officially filed and the separation is inevitable. The split was also confirmed by an attorney for the famous Hollywood couple.
“This decision was made for the health of the family,” a statement from the attorney said according to USA Today. “She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time.” Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie became a couple back in 2004. The two only married in 2014, in France, and have six children together.
Their decision to wed came as a surprise, as Angelina and Brad had been a couple for so many years without showing intentions to make the commitment. And it seemed to have been a good decision, as Angelina stated at the end of 2014 that marriage changed their relationship for the better. “It feels nice to be husband and wife,” the actress told Vanity Fair.
Angelina and Brad met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. At that time, Brad was still married to Jennifer Aniston. Of course, the separation from Jennifer and the immediate public romance with Angelina created a series of headlines in 2004. Jennifer and Brad announced their split before the release of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Both Brad and Angelina have always denied infidelity allegations.
Well, Brad and Angelina ended their marriage with another movie. They starred together in the movie By the Sea. The movie presents the story of a marriage that is going through some difficult moments.
When it comes to the reason of the split, not much has been said. Angelina cited irreconcilable differences and is seeking the full custody of the couple’s six children. However, some insiders claimed that the pair separated because Angelina was unhappy with her husband’s parenting methods and the fact that he engaged in the consumption of marijuana and alcohol. Of course, the pair revealed nothing at this point.
