Amy Pascal decided to talk about the Sony hack that has created headlines in the past few days. The co-chair of the famous company opened up now for the first time since the cyber-attack. Pascal claimed that she actually is deeply embarrassed by the leaked emails that also include some racial comments about President Obama.
Sony might be facing a huge scandal linked to the hacked emails that have been published online. “What should I ask the president at this stupid Jeffrey breakfast?” Amy says in one of the emails. “Should I ask him if he likes’ DJANGO?’” she adds. Django Unchained is a movie about a former slave. Amy Pascal is one of the most powerful women in this industry, but analysts seem to believe that her career may not be able to survive this scandal, after all.
“The content of my e-mails to Scott were insensitive and inappropriate but are not an accurate reflection of who I am. Although this was a private communication that was stolen, I accept full responsibility for what I wrote and apologize to everyone who was offended,” Amy Pascal said in an official statement.
Meanwhile, it is yet to see what the investigation conducted by the FBI will discover. The FBI is trying to find out who is behind this huge hacking case. It has been claimed that North Korea can be linked to the hacking, as Sony is going to release soon the movie The Interview, in which the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is fictionally killed. The comedy was already criticized by North Korea, so there is no wonder that the country is associated to this scandal.
However, North Korea has denied any link with the attack, although it praised it. The hack was initially reported by Sony Pictures on November 25. Since then, a series of information have been exposed. This also includes sensitive information about employees, including their names, social security numbers and their salaries. Will Sony Picture be able to survive this scandal? This is without a doubt something yet to be discovered.
